.SYNOPSIS...Warm interior temperatures will continue through
Friday, followed by a return to near normal temperatures by the
weekend. Nighttime and morning coastal cloudiness will continue
through most of the week, with clearing by mid-morning each day.
Mostly dry conditions are expected to continue.

.DISCUSSION...Low cloudiness pulled away from the coast early this
morning as low-level offshore flow increased. Over the past few
hours, low clouds have been trying to form just off the coast,
with some moving onshore across the S portion of Humboldt Bay to
near Cape Mendocino. Indications are that clouds will expand
across the coastal waters into the evening hours. However, this
cloud deck will likely continue to be eroded on the N side by
increasing northerly winds. The marine layer is running about 1500
ft deep per ACV profiler data. This will likely fluctuate during
the next 24 hours as slow warming above the surface continues. The
marine layer is expected to deepen on Friday and into the weekend.
Max temperatures soared over 100 degrees in some of the S
interior valleys today. Expect similar temperatures on Thursday
before an upper trough approaches from the N and gradually cools
temperatures. Have included a separate interior Mendocino County
HWO section to address increased heat risk. Still doesn't appear
to be enough coverage of elevated heat risk to warrant any
advisories. /SEC

.AVIATION...Pockets of marine stratus stretched along the North
Coast today. However, The Eel River Delta and Valley were nearly
cloudless as compared to yesterday. Most of the stratus had
scattered at the coastal airports by mid-late morning. At ACV,
MVFR ceilings around 1000 feet were reported, while CEC reported
LIFR-IFR conditions. Although most of the stratus retreated from
the coast, a narrow swath continued from Orick to Crescent City's
city limits. Around 1 PM, scattered stratocumulus fractus
developed near ACV. Model guidance suggest a replay of
overnight/morning stratus redeveloping. An early afternoon visible
satellite picture showed a large band offshore, giving indication
that stratus will mostly likely moved back over the coastal TAF
sites again by late morning into evening. Interior areas should
remain VFR through Thursday. /TA

.MARINE...The latest models continue to indicate widespread gale
force gusts across the outer waters starting late tonight as the
pressure gradient over the area tightens. As a result, have
upgraded the Gale Watch to a warning. Did delay the start of the
Small Craft Advisory for the N inner waters. Advisory level seas
should enter this area later tonight. Short period seas will also
continue to build through the end of the week, reaching the 12 to
14 ft range by Friday across much of the outer waters. /SEC
