The National Weather Service in Missoula has issued a High Wind
Warning...which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this
evening. 

The National Weather Service in Missoula has issued a Lake Wind
Advisory for Flathead Lake...which is in effect from 6 AM Tuesday
to noon MDT Wednesday.

* Impacts/Timing: A downslope windstorm is expected to develop
  this afternoon across the eastern third of Flathead Valley
  including Highway 206, the northern part of Highway 83 and along
  Highway 35 at Flathead Lake. Frequent wind gusts to 50 mph could
  cause trees to snap in these areas creating potentially
  dangerous driving conditions for motorists. Strong easterly
  winds will create very choppy conditions over Flathead Lake. The
  warning will replace the lake wind advisory at noon.

* Winds: Sustained east 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph are
  likely this afternoon. Winds will slowly decrease Tuesday 
  evening, but remain breezy at 15 to 30 mph through Wednesday 
  morning at Flathead Lake. 

* Wave heights: Initially 2 to 3 feet...increasing 3 to 5 feet 
  with 6 footers possible over the open waters of Flathead Lake. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

Note...The experimental wave height forecasts are representative
of the mid lake waters and downwind shores. Wave heights may be
significantly less on upwind shores.

Advisory...which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this
evening. 

* Impacts/Timing: Strong easterly winds will develop and cause
  dangerous crosswinds and minor tree damage.

* Winds: Northeast winds sustained between 20 to 30 mph with 
  gusts to 40 mph.

* Locations impacted include: Highway 2 Kalispell to Happy's Inn,
  Highway 37 Eureka to Libby, Highway 56 Bull Lake Road, and 
  Highway 93 Eureka to Whitefish

* Impacts/Timing:Strong easterly winds will develop in Missoula
  proper and over the northern Bitterroot Valley by this afternoon.
  Dangerous cross-winds and some minor tree damage is expected.

* Winds: Easterly winds sustained between 20 to 30 mph with gusts
  to 40 mph.

Advisory...which is in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening. The
High Wind Warning has been cancelled. 


* Impacts/Timing: Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with frequent wind
  gusts up to 40 mph could cause trees to snap, especially in the
  flathead valley. Strong northeasterly winds will create choppy
  conditions over Flathead Lake. 

* Winds: Sustained east-northeasteast 15 to 25 mph with gusts to
  40 mph are likely through early evening, especially in the
  vicinity of Kalispell. Winds will slowly decrease this evening.
 
* Wave heights: 2 to 4 feet possible over the open waters of 
  Flathead Lake.
