...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH EARLY EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Beach
Hazards Statement for Rough Surf and dangerous Rip Currents,
which is in effect through this evening.

* HAZARDS...Rough surf, with breaking waves to around 5 feet. and
  numerous Strong Rip Currents.

* TIMING...While Rough Surf and Rip Currents will be present all
  day, the threat for Rips will be highest between 12 noon and 6 
  PM due to tidal effects.

* LOCATION...All central Florida Beaches from Flagler Beach to 
  Jupiter Inlet.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you
  susceptible to rip currents. Weak swimmers may not want to enter
  the water above their knees.

LATEST BUOY DATA SHOWS SEAS OVER THE NEAR SHORE ATLANTIC HAVE
BUILT BY ANOTHER FOOT OR TWO EARLY THIS MORNING. AS A RESULT, SURF 
CONDITIONS WILL BE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS TODAY.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS CANCELLED...
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Surf 
Advisory, which is in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening. The 
Beach Hazards Statement has been cancelled. 

* WAVES AND SURF...Large breaking waves up to 7 feet in the surf
  zone will create very dangerous conditions for swimmers today.
  Numerous Strong Rip currents are also expected.

* TIMING...While High Surf and Rip Currents will be present all 
  day, the threat for Rips will be highest between 12 noon and 6 
  PM due to tidal effects. 

   Significant wave runup to the dune line, as well as minor beach
   erosion, is expected for the next two hide tide cycles. The first
   will occur between 830 and 900 AM this morning, and the second 
   this evening between 900 and 930 AM.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...Rough surf can knock you down and make you 
  susceptible to rip currents. Weak swimmers may not want to enter
  the water above their knees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
