...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood
Warning for portions of the following rivers and/or creeks in central
and southern Indiana...
Big Walnut Creek...Buck Creek...Driftwood River...Flatrock River...
Mill Creek...White River...Wabash River...
.Lowland flooding has developed, or will soon be developing, along
rivers portions of Big Walnut Creek, Buck Creek, Driftwood
River, Flatrock River, Mill Creek, White River, and Wabash River in
central and southern Indiana. Flooding will affect some local and
state roads, agricultural land, and river parks. Water
likely will come near some homes in River Edge Estates in
Ravenswood along the White River, and flood a few streets
in Ravenswood.
Rain will move east out of Indiana overnight and early Friday
morning, leaving dry weather in place Friday, which allow relief on
smaller waterways. Rain will return Saturday.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

* At 13.2 feet...Lowland flooding in progress along Driftwood River in
northern Bartholomew County on April 6, 2011. Double Y Saddle Club
area flooded. At least 6 inches of water flowing over CR 950N to
Club. Water is less than one foot away from CR 330W just south of
its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd. CR 500N west of CR 250W is
flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river
bank. Lowell Public Access site is open but ramp is totally
flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000S and CR
900W.

.Extensive river flooding will be limited to southwest Indiana
and southeast Illinois in the days ahead. Heavy rainfall did not
develop Wednesday night in southern Indiana. As a result...lower
flood crests are expected. The highest crests above flood stage
will be in the Edwardsport, Petersburg, Hazleton, and Mount Carmel
areas where crests will be 4 to 8 feet above flood stage.
As of late Thursday evening flooding was in progress along rivers
and creeks across much of Indiana south of Indianapolis and
along and north of The East Fork White River, including
the White, Muscatatuck, and Wabash Rivers in southern and
western Indiana. Rivers levels continued to slowly rise in most
areas.
Rainfall from 8 PM Wednesday to 8 PM Thursday near and south of
Interstate 70 amounted to between eight tenths and one inch at most
locations, and some locales from near Indianapolis southwestward
toward Vincennes saw amounts up to around one and one third
inches. Isolated rain amounts up to one and three quarter inches may
have fallen in Knox County in southwest Indiana.
Rain will move east out of Indiana overnight and early Friday
morning, leaving dry weather in place Friday, which allow relief on
smaller waterways. Rain will return Saturday, which is not expected
to have a significant impact on river levels.
Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois.
Flooding will affect some local and state roads, agricultural land,
and river parks. Water likely will come near some homes in River Edge
Estates in Ravenswood along the White River, and flood a few streets
in Ravenswood.

its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd. CR 500N west of CR 250W is
flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river
bank. Lowell Public Access site is open but ramp is totally
flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000S and CR

.Heavier than expected rainfall fell over portions of central
Indiana Thursday and Thursday night leading to higher than expected
river levels. As of Friday morning flooding was in progress along
rivers and creeks across much of Indiana. Most of the smaller
creeks have crested or nearly crested with water rising along the
main rivers.
Rainfall of one to two inches fell across central Indiana between 7
AM Thursday and 7 AM Friday. Additional light rain is expected
Friday night into Saturday which is not expected to affect ongoing
flooding. Another round of rain is expected early next week which
will prolong ongoing flooding.
Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois.
Moderate flooding is expected along the lower stretches of the White
and Wabash River with minor flooding occurring elsewhere.
Flooding will affect some local and state roads, agricultural land,
and river parks.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Heavier than expected rainfall fell over portions of central
Indiana Thursday and Thursday night leading to higher than expected
river levels. As of Friday morning flooding was in progress along
rivers and creeks across much of Indiana. Most of the smaller
creeks have crested or nearly crested with water rising along the
main rivers.
Rainfall of one to two inches fell across central Indiana between 7
AM Thursday and 7 AM Friday. Additional light rain is expected
Saturday, which is not expected to affect ongoing flooding. Another
round of rain is expected early next week which will prolong ongoing
flooding.
Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois. Moderate
flooding is expected along the lower stretches of the White and
Wabash River with minor flooding occurring elsewhere. Flooding will
affect some local and state roads, agricultural land, river parks,
and river cabins.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Heavier than expected rainfall fell over portions of central
Indiana Thursday and Thursday night leading to higher than expected
river levels. As of Friday evening flooding was in progress along
rivers and creeks across much of Indiana. Most of the smaller
creeks have crested while rivers are on the rise.
Rainfall of one to two inches fell across central Indiana between 7
AM Thursday and 7 AM Friday. Rain chances will return to central and
southern Indiana Saturday then again Sunday with light accumulations.
Yet another round of rain will be around for Monday and Tuesday, with
heavier accumulations that will prolong flooding.
Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois. Moderate
flooding is expected along the lower stretches of the White and
Wabash River with minor flooding occurring elsewhere. Flooding will
affect some local and state roads, agricultural land, river parks,
and river cabins.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers and

.As of Saturday morning flooding was in progress along
the larger rivers in central Indiana. The crest on the Wabash was
near Terre Haute, near Spencer along the White, and between Spencer
and Bedford along the East Fork White. Smaller rivers and streams
have crested or nearly crested.
Precipitation chances will return to central and southern Indiana
with rain on Saturday then snow and rain on Sunday with light
accumulations. This precipitation is not expected to impact ongoing
flooding. Yet another round of rain will be around for Monday and
Tuesday, with heavier accumulations that will prolong or
renew flooding.
Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois. Moderate
flooding is expected along the lower stretches of the White and
Wabash River with minor flooding occurring elsewhere. Flooding will
affect some local and state roads, agricultural land, river parks,
and river cabins.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers
and/or creeks in Indiana...
Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash
River...White River...
.As of Saturday night flooding was in progress along the larger
rivers in central Indiana. The crest on the Wabash was near
Newberry along the White, and slightly downstream of Seymour along
the East Fork White. Smaller rivers and streams have crested or
nearly crested.
Rainfall into Sunday morning is not expected to impact ongoing
flooding. Yet another round of rain will be around for Monday and
Tuesday, with heavier accumulations that will prolong or renew
flooding.
Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois. Moderate
flooding is expected along the lower stretches of the White and
Wabash River with minor flooding occurring elsewhere. Flooding will
affect some local and state roads, agricultural land, river parks,
and river cabins.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

Wednesday afternoon.
* At 16.4 feet...State Road 258 remained open after the river
rebounded quickly to this level in June 2010. State Road 258 had
been flooded a few days earlier after river crested at 17.9 feet.

* Forecast...The river will rise to near 26.6 feet by Monday
afternoon then begin falling. The river will fall below flood stage
Saturday afternoon.
* At 28.0 feet...Extensive river flooding in progress. Residential
areas near the river begin to flood. The county bridge locally
known as the Buddha bypass bridge becomes inaccessible. Several
local roads are flooded including Duncan Rd/Tunnelton Rd...Fort
Ritner at the underpass and post office...Old Buddha Rd...Tunnelton
Rd at the RR crossing and West Sparksville Bridge Rd.

* Forecast...The river will rise to near 11.3 feet by Tuesday
afternoon then begin falling. The river will fall below flood stage
Saturday afternoon.
* At 11.2 feet...Extensive river flooding in progress. Several local
roads are flooded including SR 450 just east of Williams and
Stumphole Bridge Rd. Local residents use Ridge Road to travel from
Williams to Bedford at this level and higher.

The East Fork White River at Shoals.
* from late tonight to late Thursday night.
* At Sat 11:30 PM the stage was 17.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late tonight and continue to
rise to near 21.4 feet by Tuesday evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by Thursday afternoon.
* At 22.0 feet...Lowland flooding affects all local roads in the flood
plain. Farmers must move some livestock to higher ground. State
Road 550 floods on left bank. Roads that flood include West River,
Spout Spring, Cemetery, East River, Chicken Farm and a few other
side roads near the river. East Fork White River forms at least
one island. Two families are nearly isolated. Significant
agricultural flooding is in progress.

.The Wabash River near Clinton and the White River in the
Indianapolis area have each fallen below flood stage. Riverl levels
are expected to continue to fall through the early week at these
locations.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Be alert to flood debris on previously flooded roads. Keep children
away from flooded areas. Recreational and agricultural interests
should remain alert to changing river conditions.
