.SYNOPSIS...Dry and mild conditions are expected to prevail across
the region during the upcoming work week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...An upper trough was moving east away from NWRN CA
during Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, a very weak surface wave was
approaching from the west. Lingering showers occurring in the wake
of the departing trough will quickly dissipate after sunset as the
boundary layer stabilizes with the loss of daytime heating. This
will be accompanied by clearing cloud cover (particularly over
Mendocino County), which will aid in Sunday night lows falling
into the 20s and 30s for most locations inland from the immediate
coast. Thus, frost and freeze headlines remain in effect from 1 AM
to 9 AM Monday morning. In addition to patchy frost, valley
locations may also experience patchy fog late tonight/Monday
morning.
After Monday morning, a large upper ridge is forecast to amplify
over the NERN Pacific Monday afternoon into Tuesday. This feature
will be accompanied by strong surface high pressure that will
yield an increase in northerly winds (especially near the coast).
The combination of mainly clear skies, subsidence aloft, and
northerly continental trajectories will favor warm afternoon
temperatures through much of the week. At this time, temperatures
are forecast to range from the upper 60s to locally mid/upper 70s
across interior valleys, to upper 50s and 60s along the coast.
However, marine stratus may develop across the coastal waters by
Tuesday, which could result in slightly cooler temperatures for
coastal locations...if the stratus penetrates inland.

.AVIATION...Clouds have cleared out nicely along the Redwood Coast
while inland convective clouds continue. These clouds will
gradually clear overnight, but some low clouds will likely persist
in the interior valleys along with some patchy fog. Winds will be
generally light. /SEC

.MARINE...Winds and seas will continue to slowly subside this
evening. Have extended the Small Craft Advisory for the S waters
through 6 PM this evening. N winds are forecast to increase by
late Monday afternoon as high pressure builds offshore and a
thermal trough develops over the land. Another Small Craft
Advisory will likely be issued for at least the S waters this
evening or early Monday morning.
NW swell at a period of around 12 seconds will decay through early
next week. Another, much smaller NW swell at a period of around
12 seconds will arrive by next Tuesday. /SEC
