At 229 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicates rain gradually diminishing over the warned area. Rain is expected to end completely over the next hour. Numerous reports of stranded cars and motorist rescues have been received across the Dodge City area. Storm spotters have reported up to 5 inches of rain in Dodge City. Many low lying roadways are underwater. This is a very dangerous situation, especially at night, when it is very difficult to determine how deep the water is, or how fast it is moving. Dangerous runoff will continue over the next two hours. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Dodge City and Ft. Dodge. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
