Low pressure pressure will move off the New England coast today.
This will allow a ridge of high pressure to build in from the
west tonight into Monday. An upper-level low will affect the
region for much of next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Minor changes to the PoPs to match radar trends. Otherwise, the
previous forecast remains on track and no additional changes
were made.
Original Discussion...
The back edge of the snow continues to move east across the
area this morning. The accumulating snow will generally be
confined to the Primary Snowbelt from Geauga/Lake County
eastward for the next few hours, where the Winter Storm Warning
remains in effect. Up to another inch or so of snow can be
expected through sunrise across portions of the Secondary
Snowbelt, mainly across Portage and Trumbull Counties, with up
to 2 inches possible across the northern portions of these
counties where the Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect
until 10 AM. Another 2 to perhaps 4 inches is possible through
this morning across far northeast Ohio and Crawford County, PA
with up to an additional 5 inches possible across inland Erie
County, PA. Aside from the Winter Storms Warnings/Advisories
mentioned above, all other Winter Storm Warnings, Advisories,
and Wind Advisories are no longer in effect.
Winds across much of the area will continue a diminishing trend
this morning with eastern areas still a bit gusty through today.
High pressure moving in from the west will make for clear skies
across western areas today with this clearing slowly spreading
east tonight into Saturday.
Highs today will generally be in the middle 30s with lows
tonight dropping into the lower 20s with generally clear skies
across the western half of the area and partly cloudy skies
elsewhere. Highs Saturday will be a few degrees warmer.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
The period will be mostly quiet as high pressure will dominate over
the weekend. The surface ridge will not move east of the area
till Monday night so temps will be cooler than they have been
recently. Highs Sunday will be seasonable with slightly warmer
temperatures expected on Monday. Sunday will be mostly sunny
with increasing clouds on Monday ahead of the next system. Will
bring precip back to the area Monday night as an occluded front
sweeps east across the area. Through 06z precip chances will be
mainly west of I-71 with the rain reaching NW PA by morning. For
the most part the models are in decent agreement with this
scenario so have actually nudged precip chances up slightly.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Precip associated with an occluded front will move east of the area
Tuesday morning. Will then likely see a break in the precip for 8
to 12 hours before wrap around moisture from the low passing to the
north arrives. Will need chance wording Tuesday night through
Wednesday night. Some lake effect showers are possible in the
wake of this system Wednesday night into Thursday. Both the GFS
and ECMWF have 850 mb temps getting colder than neg 10 by 12z
Thursday. Will keep highs Thursday in the mid and upper 30s but
those may need to be lowered if it indeed does get that cold
aloft. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the period with highs
possibly getting to 50 but then temperatures will begin a
downward slide for the end of the week.

.AVIATION /12Z Friday THROUGH Tuesday/...
VFR conditions have moved in at KTOL and will continue to spread
east across the area this morning into this afternoon. Snow
continues from KCAK to KYNG with IFR/LIFR conditions. Expect
the snow to end after 15Z or so with improving conditions to VFR
by evening. All locations will see VFR conditions by this
evening continuing through tonight. Gusty northwest winds to 25
knots at eastern terminals will die down by tonight to around
10 knots.
OUTLOOK...Non-VFR developing Tuesday.

.MARINE...
Winds continue to come down and will allow the Gale to end.
Northerly winds will continue through midday Sunday before winds
start to become easterly. By daybreak Monday the flow will have
a southerly component. Increasing southerly flow is then
expected till a front crosses the lake on Tuesday. Winds will
become westerly behind that feature. Given the strong winds the
past 12 hours it will be interesting to see how the remaining
ice floes have shifted on the lake. Hopefully we get a view of
the lake the next couple of days.
