...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 500 PM CDT FOR EAST
CENTRAL DEAF SMITH COUNTY...
    
At 432 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 12 miles northwest of Dawn, or 13 miles north of
Hereford, moving northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
east central Deaf Smith County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR EAST CENTRAL DEAF SMITH COUNTY IS
CANCELLED...
                
The storm which prompted the warning no longer appears capable of 
producing a tornado. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled. 
However hail and gusty winds are still possible with this 
thunderstorm and severe thunderstorm warnings remain in effect.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for
the Panhandle of Texas.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for 
portions of Deaf Smith County.

.UPDATE...
Made some minor updates to timing to handle current lull in precip across
the western CWA, although noted storms are already firing again
to the SW where better heating is occurring. With the far SW
trying to break out into some sunshine and accounted for warmer
highs there and across south in general. Bands of moderate to
heavy rainfall continue across the east ahead of current
disturbance. Best chc for the west and main QPF show there will
occur tonight a main jet sets up and this area of precip will
slowly shift east overnight and into Monday.

.AVIATION...
Expect VLIFR cigs will continue to plague the area through
tonight. Increasing TSTMS will also occur from west to east and
anticipate the CIGs will finally begin to improve to IFR and then
MVFR levels after sunrise from west to east as the anticipated
shield of shra and tstms moves east.

Another messy aviation period is in store. Southeasterly winds
should keep most of the Panhandles socked in with LIFR/IFR
ceilings through the period along fog. Exception may be DHT which
looks to be close to the western edge of the low clouds this
afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms may also impact all TAF sites
but timing these out remains a challenge. For now, kept VCTS in
at DHT and GUY when they have the greatest chance for thunder
tonight. Put in some VCTS this morning at AMA due to thunderstorms
in the HOB vicinity that are pushing northeast currently. Unsure
if these will hold together so did not go with a TEMPO or
prevailing group at this time.

DISCUSSION...
A wet forecast remains in store for the OK and TX Panhandles
today through Tuesday, with a break in the precipitation Tuesday
night through Thursday, then possibly another round of precipitation
Thursday night through Friday night, perhaps lingering into
Saturday.

For today through Monday night, a closed upper level low pressure
system is forecast to settle into the main western states trof
today, with the most likely location being around nrn AZ. Plenty
of moisture is progged to be transported northeast into the area
ahead of this upper level low, supporting moderate to high pops
today through Monday night. The overall highest values were
placed in the eastern and southeastern zones, with lowest values
across the far western and northwestern sections. Heavy rainfall
and attendant flooding or flash flooding will continue to be a
concern today through Monday night, especially across the eastern
half of the TX Panhandle. The current Flood Watch issued yesterday
for most of the eastern and southeastern Texas Panhandle effective
through late Monday afternoon remains plausible at this time.
In addition, if enough temporary clearing occurs, allowing for
daytime heating and atmospheric instability, some storms that form
on Monday afternoon and evening will have the potential to become
strong to severe, with large hail and damaging winds the main
hazards. This is a conditional severe weather threat outlined for
Monday afternoon and evening.

The upper level low pressure system will eject northeast across
the plains states on Tuesday, with precipitation ending from west
to east on this day. No pops Tuesday night through Thursday.
Another upper level storm system may affect the fcst area Thursday
night and Friday, possibly lingering into Saturday. Toned down
superblend pops once again durg this time period due to the
continued high uncertainty in the overall upper level pattern that
far out in time as medium range models are still not in agreement.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Texas and Oklahoma
Panhandles.

.DAY ONE...Through Tonight.

Thunderstorms are expected across the Oklahoma and Texas
Panhandles. Some storms in the western one-third of the Texas
Panhandle could become severe this evening. The main severe
threats will be hail up to 2 inches in diameter and gusts up to 70
MPH. Isolated tornadoes will also be possible.

Otherwise, thunderstorms tonight will be capable of producing
heavy rain, which could lead to flooding or flash flooding. A
Flood Watch remains in effect for most of the eastern Texas
Panhandle through tonight.

In addition, areas of fog are expected, with visibilities often
below one mile.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Thunderstorms are expected Monday through Tuesday morning across
the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. Some storms on Monday may
become strong to severe, with large hail and damaging winds being the
main hazards. In addition, heavy rainfall will likely accompany
the strongest storms Monday and Monday night, which may lead to
flooding or flash flooding. A Flood Watch remains in effect for
most of the eastern Texas Panhandle through Monday evening.

Low temperatures Wednesday morning are forecast to fall to
between 34 and 36 degrees across northwest sections of the
Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. A Frost Advisory may become
necessary for this area late Tuesday night into early Wednesday
morning.

Additional thunderstorms may develop Thursday through Saturday
across the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. Any storms that form are
expected to remain below severe levels at this time.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is requested through this evening for the
western one-third of the Texas Panhandle. Spotter activation may
be needed again on Monday.

...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR OLDHAM AND DEAF SMITH COUNTIES
UNTIL 415 PM CDT...

At 334 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Bootleg, or 11 miles north of Friona. Additional strong storms were
located near Glenrio and east of Hereford. These storms were moving
northeast at 25 mph.

Dime size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Hereford, Vega, Adrian, Glenrio, Bootleg, Wildorado, Simms and Dawn.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take shelter in a sturdy building if threatening weather approaches.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
