The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Cumberland County in central North Carolina...

* Until 1045 PM EDT

* At 752 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated training thunderstorms that
  were continuously redeveloping across the warned area. Up to one 
  inch of rain has already fallen and additional heavy rain could 
  result in an additional 1 to 3 inches. Flash flooding is expected 
  to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Godwin, Pope AFB, Hope Mills, Spring
  Lake, Eastover, Stedman, Wade and Falcon.

This includes the following flood prone areas...Spruce Street and
Stamper Road along Creek...Cross Creek in Downtown Fayetteville...
Intersection of Camden Road and Owen Road and Ray Street at Cross
Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. 
Many roads and intersections in the area will quickly flood. When 
encountering flooded roads, turn around, don't drown.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM EDT FOR
CUMBERLAND COUNTY...

At 855 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain and flooding over the warned area. Up to two inches of rain 
have already fallen. Although the rain has ended over much of 
Cumberland County, it continues to fall southeast of Cedar Creek. 
There will likely be lingering water on roadways where the rain has 
ended, so use caution while driving.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Godwin, Pope AFB, Hope Mills, Spring Lake,
Eastover, Stedman, Wade and Falcon.

This includes the following flood prone areas...Spruce Street and
Stamper Road along Creek...Cross Creek in Downtown Fayetteville...
Intersection of Camden Road and Owen Road and Ray Street at Cross
Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
