thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to
two inches of rain has already fallen. An additional 1 to 2 inches
of rain is expected. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will
cause flooding of urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Levittown, Freeport, Valley Stream,
Long Beach, Glen Cove, Plainview, Coney Island, Garden City,
Massapequa, Lynbrook, Syosset and Mineola.

At 213 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated rain and embedded
thunderstorms diminishing across the area. However, much of the area
has seen 1 to 3 inches of rainfall in only a couple of hours. There
have been numerous reports of significant flooding and water
rescues. While the rain is diminishing, it will take several hours
for water levels to recede.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Levittown, Freeport, Valley Stream, Long
Beach, Glen Cove, Plainview, Coney Island, Garden City, Massapequa,
Lynbrook, Syosset and Mineola.
