The National Weather Service in The San Francisco Bay Area has issued
a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Santa Cruz County in northern California...
* Until 1130 AM PST
* At 831 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain falling across the warned area. Reports of flooding in
Rio del Mar in Aptos have been reported, and the Corralitos Creek
stream gage at Green Valley Road is rising rapidly and has almost
reached flood stage.
* Ponding is likely already occurring in the Interlaken/Amesti area
due to high water levels in College Lake, Drew Lake, Lake Tynan,
Kelly Lake, and Pinto Lake. Urban flooding of streets may also be
occurring.
Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near
steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and
other loose materials.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY IS
CANCELLED...
.Flood waters have receded in Corralitos and Soquel Creeks and flash
(rapid onset) flooding is not likely for the remainder of today's
storm system in these creeks. However, ponded water and
backwatering of the area lakes (Pinto, College, Kelly, Tynan, Drew)
is likely to persist through the day as scattered thunderstorms
develop and dissipate. An Areal Flood Warning will replace this
warning to provide notification of this ongoing concern. Please
continue to heed any remaining road closures.
