Central Santa Cruz County in northern California... * Until 1030 AM PST * At 626 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area. Additionally, the latest river gage readings at Big Trees in Felton indicate water levels have reached flood stage which first affects Paradise Park downstream. It is likely that Felton Grove will flood as well. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Paradise Park, Felton Grove, and possibly low areas near the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz. Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately. Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. && LAT...LON 3711 12207 3697 12200 3695 12204 3710 12212 $$ MWS
