The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Brevard County in Florida...

* Until 1130 PM EDT

* At 824 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges continue to 
  indicate heavy rain falling from persistent rain bands across much 
  of Brevard County. Measured rainfall amounts up to 4 to 6 inches 
  have already occurred from Satellite Beach and Melbourne northward 
  through Cape Canaveral, Cocoa and Merritt Island, and additional 
  heavy rainfall up to 2 to 3 inches will be possible across this 
  region. Farther south, amounts will not be as heavy, but moderate 
  rain combined with amounts up to 8 to 10 inches that have already 
  fallen from West Melbourne area, as well as Melbourne Beach 
  southward through Floridana Beach will continue flooding issues. 
  This heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding, with roadways 
  becoming impassable and water potentially entering some homes.

  West Melbourne, Melbourne, Malabar, Satellite Beach, Melbourne 
  Beach, Floridana Beach, Merritt Island and Cocoa. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is 
harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 PM EDT FOR
CENTRAL BREVARD COUNTY...

At 945 PM EDT, Doppler radar, automated rain gauges, and law 
enforcement reports continue to indicate heavy rain and flooding 
across much of Brevard County. Measured rainfall amounts up to 4 to 
6 inches have already fallen across many areas of central and 
southern Brevard County, with locally higher amounts up to 8 to 10 
inches across portions of Merritt Island, West Melbourne, Malabar, 
and beachside from Satellite Beach southward through Floridana 
Beach. This heavy rainfall has and will continue to lead to flash 
flooding, with numerous roadways already being reported as 
impassable in Palm Bay and Merritt Island, as well as water entering 
some homes.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Melbourne, Malabar, Satellite Beach, 
Melbourne Beach, Floridana Beach, Merritt Island and Cocoa.
