...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 300 PM CDT
FOR EASTERN COLUMBIA COUNTY...

At 244 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 7 miles north of Pardeeville to near Rio, moving north
at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. 

SOURCE...Law enforcement. These storms have a history of producing 
         downed trees and powerlines across several portions of the 
         warned area.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees. 

Locations impacted include...
Columbus, Pardeeville, Fall River, Rio, Cambria, Wyocena, Otsego,
Friesland and Doylestown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXPIRE AT 300 PM CDT...
            
The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe
limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for
south central Wisconsin.

.SHORT TERM...

Tonight and Thursday...Forecast confidence is medium to high:

Current round of storms will move through west to east through
late afternoon, exiting the east between 5 and 7 pm per the latest
HRRR. Severe thunderstorms remain possible, with the large hail
and damaging winds still the main threats.

Looks pretty quiet for the evening and overnight hours as this
current shortwave exits the area. A couple models show isolated
thunderstorms possible this evening and overnight, so left some
low pops going. Otherwise, should see decreasing clouds overnight.

Thursday looks quiet for most of the day. Plenty of sunshine with
the lingering warm airmass should lead to highs around 90 most
places. Tough call on a lake breeze tomorrow, as westerly winds
could be near strong enough to hold it off most of the day, but
this isn't certain.

Threw in a low chance for storms in the west late in the afternoon
as a surface trough approaches. Not out of the question to see an
isolated storm or two.

.LONG TERM...

Friday night through Saturday... Forecast confidence is medium.

The upper low will track east through Saskatchewan and Ontario.
The low-level thermal boundary will likely be laid out across
southern WI. A couple of shortwaves moving along this boundary
should be the focus for showers and storms. A glance at forecast
soundings shows decent instability and shear Friday through
Saturday.

The heat and humidity will continue through this period.

Saturday night... Forecast confidence is medium.

Strong shortwave trough moving through Sat evening. This will kick
off some thunderstorms and there's a chance for severe. Cooler
and drier air will settle in behind the associated cold front.

Sunday through Tuesday... Forecast confidence is medium.

We will be in cooler northwest flow through this period. Moisture
will be limited, but we could see a few showers or sprinkles. The
better chance for showers will be Monday night/Tuesday with a
stronger shortwave trough.

.AVIATION(18Z TAFS)...

Main concern in the short term is thunderstorms this afternoon.
The main round of storms will move through west to east across the
forecast area through 23Z, with scattered storms likely ahead of
this main line. Severe storms with hail/wind the main threats are
possible.

After storms move through by late afternoon/early evening, may see
a few lingering showers and storms through late evening along a
weak boundary. Looks mainly dry overnight per several models. Dry
weather is likely Thursday into the afternoon, with a shower/storm
possible mainly west of Madison by late afternoon.

VFR conditions will prevail through Thursday except for lower
ceilings and visibilities within storms.

.MARINE...

Will continue to keep an eye on the fog potential today,
especially as winds become more southeasterly over the nearshore
waters. Conditions look good for now though. Otherwise, the main
marine concern over the next couple days will be thunderstorm
chances, as winds and waves are expected to remain below Small
Craft Advisory levels.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of east central
Wisconsin, south central Wisconsin, and southeast Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Scattered thunderstorms are expected across all of southern
Wisconsin this afternoon through early evening. Some thunderstorms
will be severe and produce damaging winds and large hail. A severe
thunderstorm watch is in effect.

Heat indices in the low to mid 90s are expected today.

There is a moderate swim risk for beaches from Racine northward to
Sheboygan.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

There is a chance of thunderstorms mainly from Thursday night
into Saturday night. Strong to severe storms are possible at times
from Friday into Saturday evening.

There is a chance of thunderstorms at times from Sunday through
Tuesday.
