The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Cole County in central Missouri...
  Boone County in central Missouri...
  Audrain County in central Missouri...
  Callaway County in central Missouri...
  Osage County in central Missouri...
  Moniteau County in central Missouri...

* Until 945 PM CDT Saturday.

* At 145 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Radar estimates that 2 to 3 
  inches of rain has already fallen across the area since late last 
  night. There have been several reports of creeks and streams at 
  bankful and a few roads have been closed due to high water. An 
  additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible through this evening.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, Mexico, California, Centralia,
  Ashland, Tipton, Holts Summit, Linn, Columbia Regional Airport,
  Belle, Wardsville, Hallsville, St. Martins, Auxvasse, Taos,
  Sturgeon, Russellville and New Bloomfield.

This includes Interstate 70 in Missouri between exits 115 and 161.
 
This also includes  Rock Bridge State Park, Finger Lakes State Park,
Clarks Hill/Norton Historic Site, Jewell Cemetery Historic Site, and
Jefferson Landing Historic Site.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

spots.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM CDT FOR
COLE...BOONE...AUDRAIN...CALLAWAY...OSAGE AND MONITEAU COUNTIES...

At 801 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that
heavy rain was falling over the area.  Flash flooding is already
occurring.

In Boone County, Route V has closed in both directions between 
Sturgeon and Hallsville, Route E closed just northwest of Columbia.

In Callaway County, Route Y is closed west of Guthrie near Cedar 
Creek along with Route O closed near Auxvasse Creek.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible in the warned 
area overnight tonight.

This includes Interstate 70 in Missouri between exits 115 and 161.

While light to moderate rain will continue throughout the night with 
an additional 1-2 inches possible, the heavier rain has ended with 
smaller creeks and streams beginning to recede. Flash flooding is no 
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed any 
remaining road closures. An areal flood warning is now in effect for 
this region until 930 AM Sunday morning.
