The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Marion County in northeastern Missouri...
Shelby County in northeastern Missouri...
* Until 830 AM CDT Thursday.
* At 1222 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported multiple roads were
closed due to flash flooding. Highway 36 was also reported to have
water over it in numerous locations. This flooding is the result
of heavy rainfall this evening with radar estimates of 5 to 7
inches thus far. Showers and thunderstorms will continue across
the area through 300 am.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hannibal, Palmyra, Shelbina, Warren, Clarence, Shelbyville, Emden,
Philadelphia, Hunnewell, Taylor, Bethel and Leonard.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM CDT FOR
MARION AND SHELBY COUNTIES...
At 422 AM CDT, the latest reports from local law enforcement
indicated some roads remained flooded and closed due to heavy
rainfall last night and early this morning. Radar estimates storm
total rainfall of 5 to 7 inches across southern portions of Shelby
and Marion Counties. Rain has ended across the region and gradually
improving conditions are expected this morning.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hannibal, Palmyra, Shelbina, Warren, Clarence, Shelbyville, Emden,
Philadelphia, Hunnewell, Taylor, Bethel and Leonard.
