.SYNOPSIS...
It will be cloudier and cooler today with rain moving into the
Central Coast tonight and a chance of rain developing over Ventura
and Los Angeles Counties Monday morning. It will be sunny and
breezy on Tuesday with temperatures above normal through Friday.
There is another chance of light rain next weekend.

.SHORT TERM...(TNGT-WED)
Light rain is on the doorstep of northwest SLO County this
afternoon and it will spread south into SB County this evening.
Not a lot of rain but a quarter to half inch. The front will
struggle to hold together south and east of SB County and it's not
a slam dunk by any means that LA/Ventura counties will see
anything more than non-measurable sprinkles or very light
showers. So forecast remains more or less the same for tonight and
Monday. The threat of precip ending pretty early in the day and
clearing to mostly sunny or partly cloudy skies in the afternoon.
Gusty west to northwest post-frontal winds expected by mid to late
morning at the beaches and Antelope Valley and elsewhere by
afternoon. Advisories will likely be needed for at least the AV
and possibly some coastal areas as well.
Winds shift to north and then northeast Monday night as surface
pressures increase across the interior. Models still favoring near
to low end wind advisories for some of the valleys and mtns
Tuesday and now Wednesday as well with a reinforcing shot of upper
level support provided by a weak trough passing into the Rockies.
The shift to Santa Anas will provide a 5-10 degree boost in
temperatures Tuesday and then similar numbers Wed.
.LONG TERM...(THU-SUN)
The GFS and ECMWF now in better (though far from perfect)
agreement through early next week. An upper low is expected to
split off the Wednesday trough and meander harmlessly off the
coast through Friday, keeping dry/warm offshore flow in place
across southern California. Both models now bring this low inland
across central Baja Saturday, effectively removing any chances
for rain from this one. However, the ECMWF is a little faster with
the trailing trough from the northwest and actually does bring a
little precip with it Saturday, mainly northern areas. The GFS is
slower and weaker and holds off any rain chances until Sunday.
This trough appears to be favoring a more inside track which is
drier but at this early time precip can't be ruled out anywhere,
especially given earlier model differences and likely future model
fluctuations. So will leave in slight chances of precip both
Sat/Sun and await more consistent solutions and higher confidence.

.AVIATION...27/0120Z.
At 23Z, the marine layer depth was around 1100 feet deep
at KLAX. There was a strong marine inversion based with a
temperature around 13 degrees Celsius. The top of the inversion
was around 2400 feet with a temperature near 21 degrees Celsius.
IFR to MVFR conditions will be prevalent throughout at least 15Z
as a cold front moves south into the region. There is a chance of
IFR conditions at terminals north of Point Conception between 04Z
and 12Z. Conditions will improve between 15Z and 22Z. Periods of
moderate to strong wind shear are possible after 15Z at all
terminals.
KLAX...IFR to MVFR conditions will be prevalent through at least
18Z, or as late as 22Z. There is a 30 percent chance of the LIFR
conditions between 00Z and 04Z.
KBUR...VFR conditions will persist through at least 08Z, or as
late as 11Z, then IFR to MVFR conditions will spread in through
13Z at the latest.

High confidence in the current forecast through today, then
moderate confidence for tonight and beyond. Conditions will
remain below Small Craft Advisory criteria today.
A SCA has been issued for the outer waters beginning this evening
and continuing through Monday afternoon for 670 and Monday evening
for 673 and 676. Extended the SCA for 670 until 05z Tue for
afternoon package. The SCA for the inner water zones has been
added for the afternoon package as well with the SCA in effect
from 11z to 23z Monday. Marine weather conditions should improve
some on Monday night or Tuesday morning, except for a chance of
Small Craft Advisory conditions near shore on Tuesday morning.
