* At 543 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar indicates that 1 
  to 2 inches of rainfall has fallen across the area.  Flash 
  flooding is expected to start shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Scottsburg, Salem, Vienna, Austin, Lexington, Hanover, Saluda,
  Smyrna, Campbellsburg and Kent.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible in the 
warned area over the next few hours.

SOUTHWESTERN JEFFERSON...NORTH CENTRAL CLARK...SCOTT AND WASHINGTON
COUNTIES...

At 641 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area.  In the last 3 hours, Doppler Radar has 
estimated that 3-4 inches of rain has fallen across central 
Washington County.  Excessive runoff from this heavy rainfall will 
result in flash flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Scottsburg, Salem, Vienna, Austin, Lexington, Hanover, Saluda,
Smyrna, Campbellsburg and Kent.

Additional thunderstorms are developing west and northwest of the 
warning area and additional heavy rainfall is expected this evening. 
An additional 1-2 inches is possible before thunderstorms weaken 
after sunset.

* At 816 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported a state of emergency 
  due to flooding in Washington County.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Washington County Indiana, 
specifically areas in and around Salem. This is a PARTICULARLY 
DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY WILL EXPIRE AT 1145
PM EDT...

The heavy rain has ended so the flash flood warning will be allowed 
to expire.  However, emergency management reported continued 
significant flooding in central Washington County, with many roads 
still impassable, and waters continuing to rise in areas south of 
Salem. Over 5 inches of rain has fallen. Many locations will remain 
flooded through the night, and emergency officials still advise 
against non-essential travel. 

Therefore, a new Flood Warning has been issued to replace this Flash 
Flood Warning.  The Flood Warning will remain in effect through 1100 
am EDT Saturday.
