.SYNOPSIS...Sunny skies with dry weather will be the norm for the
week along with cooler temperatures. Warmer temperatures will
begin to creep back into Nevada by the weekend.

.SHORT TERM...Today and Wednesday.
With the departure of the short wave trough dry and cooler air is
currently moving across Nevada. There does remain enough moisture
to cause some showers in far eastern Elko county. These showers
may transition into a isolated dry thunderstorm during the
afternoon hours. Otherwise dry and sunny weather will be the norm
for today and tomorrow. Tomorrow will also be windy with most
areas experiencing west winds of 10-20 mph gusting 20-30 mph.
Temperatures will cool with highs in the 80s to 90s and lows in
the 50s.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday night through next Tuesday. Big change in
the outlook with the models starting off in decent agreement for a
flattening ridge over the western CONUS. The ridge moves into the
interior and then quickly is replaced by a series of short waves
or small closed lows, depending on the model and time frame. Lots
of variability in the longer range so little confidence. Kept a
few dry thunderstorms Wednesday evening along the northeast
Nevada-northwest Utah border, and then, Saturday afternoon and
evening along the enter eastern Nevada border (due to a weak
wave). Temps above normal from mostly sunny skies.

.AVIATION...A weak cold front passed through the state Monday and
so the winds behind it will be mostly west to northwest at all
sites through 12Z Wednesday and gusting to near 20 knots Tuesday
afternoon and early evening. Speeds subside after sunset Tuesday
but remain high enough to keep "variable" out of the forecast.
Ceilings and visibility will be easily VFR, although smoke from
various fires could reduce slant visibility at times. Temperatures
several degrees down from recent days, but density altitudes still
higher than normal.

.FIRE WEATHER...Mostly dry and stable conditions today with the
exception of far eastern Elko county where isolated dry
thunderstorms may form in the afternoon hours. Rest of week should
be sunny and dry weather. Only other threat is gusty west winds
with low Rh's during Tuesday afternoon but this remains well below
any critical thresholds.
