...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following
creek and rivers in Indiana...

  Big Blue River...Fall Creek...Wabash River...White River...


.High river levels and lowland flooding are occurring and will occur
along waterways in central, southwest, and western Indiana.
Many water levels, except those along the Wabash, will crest
higher than those experienced earlier this month. One to three inches
of rain fell Friday afternoon and evening in many locations across
the area...leading to a rise in river levels in many area creeks,
streams, and rivers.

Most rivers will crest within three and a half feet above flood
stage...except along the Wabash at Lafayette where the river is
expected to crest up to five feet above flood stage. Flooding should
end by the 14th of July...provided additional rainfall next week does
not prolong or renew rises on area rivers.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

.High river levels and lowland flooding will continue early this 
week as a result of rainfall this past Friday of one to three inches.
Renewed rises are expected starting Tuesday as a result of
rainfall that will occur tonight through Tuesday night, followed by
more rain later in the week.

The crest on the Wabash River as of early Sunday afternoon is
expected to reach Covington tonight. Current forecasts are calling
for flooding along the Wabash to continue into the last full week of
July. The crest on the White River as of Sunday afternoon is in the
Indianapolis area. Current forecasts, using forecast precipitation
through Tuesday morning, are calling for flooding to be confined to
the Indianapolis area southward, but heavier than expected rainfall
and/or more rainfall beyond Tuesday morning may easily change this.

Keep abreast of changes in the forecast and beware of high, fast
creek and river flows. Exercise good judgment on whether or not to
venture onto waterways. Multiple water rescues have been
needed this weekend due to folks encountering dangerous water
conditions.

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 250 PM EDT Sat Jul 8 2017

High pressure will keep it dry through the weekend. Then, a warm,
moist and unstable southwest low level flow around the departing
high combined with upper waves will bring unsettled weather back to
central Indiana starting Sunday night. Periodic thunderstorms and
seasonable temperatures will continue through next week.

.NEAR TERM /Tonight/...

Models in good agreement that surface high pressure and a dry column
will result in clear skies and cool temperatures tonight. Good
confidence that Some locales could bottom out in the upper 50s
overnight per model blend.

.SHORT TERM /Sunday through Tuesday/...
Issued at 250 PM EDT Sat Jul 8 2017

The main focus for the short term will be timing and coverage of
thunderstorms as models are in good agreement that surface high
pressure will move to the Appalachians Sunday night. This will allow
for increasing moisture and instability as well as the return to
seasonably warm temperatures. Models bring some light QPF to our
west Sunday afternoon and evening. This looks too quick as it will
take a little while for the moisture and instability to return to
the area, and there is a lack of synoptic forcing. However, slight
chance pops late Sunday evening is acceptable. Models depict an
upper wave dropping southeast in the northwest flow aloft overnight
Sunday night into Monday. In addition, a low level jet will pump
moisture into a stalled Missouri Valley front, likely resulting in
MCS development. 850-300 thicknesses suggest the thunderstorm
complex will drop southeast over central Indiana overnight Sunday
night into Monday. Confidence is not great on exact timing but good
enough on general timing for good chance pops northwest overnight
Sunday night and likley pops near and north of Interstate 70 Monday
morning.

Not as confident on thunderstorm chances Monday afternoon as the
atmosphere may be well worked over which would keep things from
getting too unstable and thus stunting thunderstorm development.
Still with models showing an upper wave moving through, low chance
pops look prudent.

Models hint at another MCS moving through overnight Monday night
into Tuesday. With that in mind will have similar pops as with the
first one, but being further out confidence is not as high.

The SPC Day3 Marginal Risk and Day 4 to 8 mention look good as the
atmosphere will be plenty unstable and bulk shear will be sufficient
for this time of year.

There is a chance thunderstorm complexes will play a part in
limiting afternoon temperatures. With timing and degree of afternoon
temperature recovery up in the air, confidence for temperatures is
low, but near normal regional blend highs look reasonable.

.LONG TERM /Tuesday Night Through Saturday/...
Issued at 221 PM EDT Sat Jul 8 2017

Models are close enough that the model blend initialization
was accepted for most items.

For most of the period the forecast area will remain on the edge of
an upper high, while a surface front meanders across the area. As
impulses move around the upper high and interact with the warm and
humid air, there will be some thunderstorms at times. Uncertainty is
pretty high on the timing of these impulses, so will keep PoPs in
chance category or lower.

Heat indices could be near 100 degrees at times during the long
term, especially south and west closer to the upper high.

By Saturday,the high may retreat far enough southwest to allow
surface high pressure in and dry things out for most areas.

.AVIATION (Discussion for the 081800Z TAF Issuance)...
Issued at 1242 PM EDT Sat Jul 8 2017

VFR conditions expected for most of the period, but there will be
some MVFR fog potential at some sites late tonight.

Scattered cumulus will be the rule this afternoon, although believe
there will be some brief periods of broken (VFR) conditions at KLAF.
Winds will be up to around 10kt, with the potential for gusts to
around 15kt.

Winds will diminish this evening and clouds will dissipate. This
will set up the potential for some fog, especially at KBMG. While
cannot rule it out elsewhere, for now believe KBMG will be the only
site to see MVFR fog. This will burn off quickly Sunday morning.

heavy rainfall are threats with any thunderstorm.

Discussion: Daily chances for storms returns from late Sunday night into
much of next week as a favorable northwest flow aloft enables
several upper level disturbances to track across the region and
interact with a frontal boundary.
