The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southern Clay County in west central Indiana...
Owen County in west central Indiana...
* Until 530 PM EDT
* At 225 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area...with 2 to 2.5 inches estimated
from near Clay City east to just north of Spencer since 1 pm EDT.
An additional 1 to 2 inches are possible by 4 pm. Flash flooding
is expected to begin shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Spencer, Clay City, Gosport, Center Point, Patricksburg, Coal City,
Cory, Saline City, Bowling Green and McCormicks Creek State Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
