.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure passing well to the north will drag a cold front
across the region overnight. A very fast-moving but rapidly
developing wave will then form over the TN valley and slide
across the Mid-Atlantic Wed night. This wave will spread snow
across much of the area on Wed night. A plowable snowfall is
expected for most of Central PA. A cold and blustery end to the
week follows with snow showers tapering off into Friday.
Temperatures are projected to rebound over the weekend ahead of
the next weather system tracking through the Ohio Valley.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING/...
Some semblance of a NCFRB developing over central PA as LLJ
races towards the fingerlakes late this evening...but this is
more likely the prefrontal trof signaling the passing of the
thermal ridge nudged eastward. "Warm" and dry sector covers
southeast counties. Widespread showers extend from southwest
corner of PA to the West Central Mountains and across the
northern tier of central PA...racing SW to NE. Scattered showers
will reach the south central mountains and Lower Susq River
Valley by late tonight and after midnight.

The actual front moves into BFD around midnight, so will end
the mention of T about then. Temps will remain abnormally mild
(maybe some maxi- mins?) overnight. It might be higher than 50F
all night in the S and 40s elsewhere. The far NW will get back
into the 30s by sunrise.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...
Cold advection should be underway for all areas by mid-morning
as the front will clear LNS an hour or two after sunrise.
However, some breaks in the sky will appear in the morning in
the SE and then expand. Some dz or flurries may be left over as
the upslope (but drying) flow persists for the morning. Then,
the next period of warm advection begins aloft and the next big
thing advances in from the west. Precip from the west looks
like it should hold off until after sunset Wed.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
After a bit of a downward turn in snow totals overnight, models
have bounced back with higher QPF in quick moving and
intensifying system for Wed night into Thu. Still quite a bit of
spread in solutions in general, but better agreement on a QPF
bullseye of >0.25 and even >0.50 over SE portion of CWA for this
event. Western and central mountains will start off as snow Wed
eve, with the southern tier and lower susq warm enough for rain
at the onset. Rapid cooling of the layer as low pressure
tracking across Virginia intensified, which will turn remaining
precip over to snow after midnight. Window for heaviest
precipitation will be later Wed eve into the overnight hours,
and more intense snow bands will push totals close enough to
winter weather watch criteria that I pulled the trigger on a
watch across the southern tier and into the central mountains
and mid susq valley. Current forecast brings much of this area
into the 4-6 inch range, but potential does still exist for
these numbers to be higher. Trickiest area may be along the
southern border in York/Lancaster counties where totals will be
lower if changeover to snow is delayed by a few hours.

System moves out quickly on Thu with accumulating snows done by
12z. Deepening upper trough pushes through later Thu into Thu
night, with potential for a NW/SE oriented snow band on the back
side of the low as winds align with a blast of CAA.

Weakening low slips in from the Great Lakes Fri night along a
warm front which may bring light snow to the northern half. Next
system will bring a likely period of rain for Sunday into Sun
night as temperatures moderate.

.AVIATION /03Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...

The warm front remains pretty much stalled from just east of BFD
then southward to between AOO-CTP and east to just north of LNS.

The only corner of the flying area that is VFR is the SWRN
portion firmly in the warm air. The remainder of the region is
MVFR/IFR with low clouds, some rain and patchy fog..

Expect widespread MVFR/IFR to continue through most of the
night for the central and western TAF sites. LLWS will be
possible with the relatively light surface flow being topped by
strong winds out of the SW just above the deck.

The cold front will move through the region later tonight bringing
slowly improving conditions over central and eastern terminals.
JST-BFD typically improve last and there is no reason to believe
that will not the case tonight into Wed morning.

Wed...AM low CIGs possible BFD/JST.

Wed night-Thu...Snow and IFR likely SERN 1/2 of the flying area.

Thu PM...scattered snow showers, mainly BFD/JST.

Fri...Evening light snow possible NW Mtns.
