.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure over the lower Ohio Valley will slowly move
through tonight into Friday, then continue to near Lake Ontario
on Saturday. Widespread rain is expected to continue through
tonight and Friday. Another upper level trough will slide
southeast out of Canada and merge with this system over the
Upper Great Lakes over the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/...
Really only tweaked temperatures with this mid evening update.
Winds have shifted to the north/northeast at MFD/MNN and they
have lost several degrees. Only the far southeast locations
will manage to stay out of the 40s. Patchy fog possible across
the central highlands. Will continue to monitor the current
situation for possible warnings. See the latest flood warnings
and statements for updates. Will also be closely monitoring lake
levels across the western basin. Winds have backed some and
water levels have dropped. But tomorrow winds increase again out
of the northeast and lake water may begin to affect property
along the lakeshore.

Previous Discussion...Not much change in current forecast
thinking from previous forecast, as rain shield continues to
pivot northeast through the area ahead of surface low tracking
into the Ohio valley. Deformation axis should slip eastward into
the area overnight, with more moderate to heavy rainfall
expected. Second frontogenetic axis will lift northwest through
the western half of the area as the surface low tracks northward
through Ohio/western PA, which should help reinforce moderate
rainfall across the flood watch area. This will persist across
the northwest part of the forecast area through the morning into
the afternoon hours before a bit of a lull in precip coverage
as the surface low moves through the eastern part of the
forecast areas. Some destabilization could occur across eastern
areas tomorrow so included a chance of thunder in the east
during the afternoon. The low will lift northeast of the area
Friday night with the focus of the widespread precip shifting to
the eastern half of the forecast area, mainly east of the I-77
corridor.

Will leave the flood watch as is at this point, as current forecast
trends focus highest precip amounts in these areas. Any shift of the
axis of heaviest rainfall overnight may prompt and eastward
expansion of the watch, which some high res guidance has hinted at.
Latest forecast amounts from early this afternoon through Friday
night range from around 2.25 inches near Toledo to around 1.25
inches from Youngstown to Meadville. General amounts of 2 inches or
more west with an 1.5 to 1.75 along the I-71 corridor.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Surface low northeast of the forecast area will stall and pivot just
north of Lake Ontario Saturday and Saturday night, as northern
stream shortwave dives south into the Great Lakes cutoff low. This
wave will help reinforce a shot of colder air across the Great
Lakes. While the focus of precip will be rotation through the
eastern part of the area during the day on Saturday, cold air
advection will help reinvigorate rain shower activity with a lake
enhancement. Will go with likely pops everywhere and cat pops across
far NE OH and NW PA Saturday afternoon and night. With 850mb temps
as cold as -4C and thicknesses falling near and just below critical
levels, will add a rain/snow mention to higher elevations of NW PA
and far NE OH late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Pops will
diminish from west to east through the day Sunday with dry conditions
by Sunday night as high pressure slides into the region. Some frost
is certainly possible with ridge axis across the western part of the
forecast area and clear skies allowing for excellent radiative
processes. Current lows dip to mid 30s Sunday night and may even
approach freezing before all is said and done.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
High amplitude pattern with cut off lows dominating North America
during this period. The deep upper low over the northeast states
Monday will rotate and remain somewhat stationary into Wednesday
before finally shifting east of the east coast. Model solutions
diverge at this point with the ECMWF keeping some troughing westward
over the Ohio Valley while the GFS has a moist short wave ridge
built over the region with a warm front already progressing across
the region by Thursday. Little confidence in the forecast given the
large differences in model solutions. Will stay close to model
blended solution for temperatures and pops.

.AVIATION /00Z Friday THROUGH Tuesday/...
Low pressure now over wrn KY with a warm front northeast into
nern OH. Expect conditions to remain IFR on the northwest side
of the front through the evening and overnight as the low drifts
slowly northeast to the nrn KY OH border by 09-12Z. The front
should also drift slowly east along with the low, reaching the
central lakeshore by the same time. Conditions to remain
restricted in northwest Ohio through Friday as well. Elsewhere
conditions will lower from VFR through MVFR overnight to MVFR/IFR
by morning with diurnal trends and as the low moves closer to
the area.  Conditions to remain MVFR at best Friday.

OUTLOOK...Non-VFR likely through Saturday night.

.MARINE...
The approach of low pressure from the southwest and the tightening
pressure gradient has increased winds especially over the western
basin of Lake Erie. We expect the winds to increase and gradually
back to the north northeast tonight and northwest Friday night and
continue from the northwest for the remainder of the weekend.

A small craft advisory will be issued for the western basin this
evening and over the rest of the lake shore Friday. The SCA will
likely continue into Sunday afternoon.

High pressure will gradually build over the lake early next week and
bring tranquil conditions on the lake.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central Ohio, northeast
Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania.

A prolonged period of wet weather is expected heading into this
weekend. An area of low pressure will approach the Ohio Valley today
with showers becoming more numerous into tonight. Rises on area
rivers and creeks are expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Occasional rain will continue Friday and Saturday as the low pressure
moves from the Ohio Valley to the eastern Great lakes. Thunderstorms
are possible across east central Ohio on Friday with locally heavy
rainfall possible. Lake enhanced showers will continue on Saturday.
Rainfall totals from Thursday through Saturday will generally range
from 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts, especially where
thunderstorms occur. Flooding is possible on area rivers along with
low lying and poor drainage areas. Stay tuned to updated forecast
information.
