* At 649 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between two and three inches of
rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Erie, North East, Northwest Harborcreek, Harborcreek, Lawrence
Park, Wesleyville, McKean and Middleboro.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

NORTHEASTERN ERIE COUNTY...
At 712 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain at Erie and along the lakeshore
in Erie COunty. Two inches or more of rain has occurred in the last
hour or so and there was heavy rain earlier today. Flash flooding
will occur. Roads and low lying areas may have several feet of water
on them. Water rescues have been reported already in Fairview.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Erie, North East, Harborcreek, Lawrence Park, Wesleyville, McKean
and Middleboro.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Water levels may be deep. Your vehicle
will not be able to navigate the deep water and will stall.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

NORTHEASTERN ERIE COUNTY...
At 738 PM EDT, flash flooding was occurring in Erie. Roads were
closed and water was several feet deep in some areas. Water was
reported to be knee deep at the Asbury United Methodist Church at
West 26 and Asbury street.

Wesleyville, McKean and Middleboro.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Never drive into flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Never drive around barricades. Just because the road is not closed
does not mean it is not safe. Your vehicle can float in less than a
foot of water. Moving water can knock you off your feet or float
your vehicle. Do not take any chances.

NORTHEASTERN ERIE COUNTY...
At 915 PM EDT, law enforcement and the EMA continue to report
significant across much of northern Erie County from Fairview and
Lake City east to the Erie area. Radar estimated between 4 and 5
inches of rain fell from early this afternoon through early evening.
Numerous roads were reported closed by flood waters. An estimated
100 homes, just in the Millcreek Township area, were damaged by
flood water or had water in the basements. One home in Millcreek
township that was on a bluff, collapsed due to flowing water.
In addition, water rescues were needed in Fairview, Lake City, and
Mill Village, when motorists became stranded. In one case flood
waters were up to the car's windows.
Debris from flooding was also reported across the road in the
vicinity of west 12th street and Greengarden Blvd on the southwest
side of Erie.
Additional flooding is likely. Some locations that may experience
flooding include... Erie, North East, Northwest Harborcreek,
Harborcreek, Lawrence Park, Wesleyville, McKean and Middleboro.
