778 WWUS81 KBUF 121237 SPSBUF Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Buffalo NY 837 AM EDT WED JUL 12 2017 NYZ010>012-085-121315- Southern Erie-Wyoming-Genesee-Northern Erie- 837 AM EDT WED JUL 12 2017 ...THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN WILL AFFECT WYOMING...NORTHEASTERN ERIE AND SOUTHERN GENESEE COUNTIES... At 835 AM EDT, radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Lancaster to near Portageville. Movement was northeast at 35 mph. Locations impacted include... Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Clarence, Batavia, Depew, Lancaster, Hamburg, East Aurora, Alden, Darien Lakes State Park and Letchworth State Park. This includes Interstate 90 between exits 48A and 48. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. While most areas will only pick up a quarter inch of rain, some sites will pick up over an inch of rain in less than 30 minutes. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
