.SYNOPSIS...
Dry and cool weather continues through Wednesday, but it will
remain breezy today before winds diminish early this evening. Milder
Thursday, and especially Friday, ahead of an approaching cold
front with temperatures rising into the lower 70s. A few showers
are possible with this front, otherwise mainly dry weather
expected the remainder of this week. Then cooler and dry weather
to start the weekend, but a chance of rain arrives Sunday into
Monday.

935 AM Update...
Mid level shortwave passing to the north this afternoon with
temps warming aloft. Modest low level cold advection and
subsidence will result in mostly sunny skies with some diurnal
cu developing, especially interior northern MA. Blustery W/SW
winds today, especially near the south coast where gusts to 30
mph. Temps mostly in the mid/upper 50s with a few locations
around 60 in RI/SE MA. Cooler higher terrain in northern/W MA
with highs upper 40s to lower 50s.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...
Tonight...
High pressure will build in from the southwest allowing winds to
quickly diminish early this evening. Mainly clear skies
anticipated other than perhaps a touch of high cloudiness after
midnight. Regardless, light winds/mainly clear skies and a dry
atmosphere will set the stage for an ideal night of radiational
cooling. Low temps will bottom out mainly in the upper 20s to
the middle 30s in most locations. Widespread frost anticipated,
so have hoisted a Frost Advisory for northern CT/RI and portions
of eastern MA where the growing season has not officially come
to an end. The urban heat island of downtown Boston will be the
mild spot with lows only dropping into the lower 40s.
Wednesday...
Partial sunshine in the morning will give way to more in the way
of clouds during the afternoon. This in response to mid level
warm advection commencing. Dry weather should generally prevail,
although we can not rule out a spot sprinkle/light shower or two
across western MA by late afternoon/early evening. High temps
will be in the 50s but with much less wind than today.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
Highlights...
* Above average temperatures and a few showers Thursday and Friday.
* Cooler temps for the weekend.
* Another shot of showers beginning early next week.
Pattern Overview/Confidence...
00z guidance is in good agreement for the long term. Overall pattern
appears to be fairly fast due to more zonal flow aloft. Weak ridging
aloft will move ahead Thursday with the axis massing over the region
on Friday. By the weekend the pattern appears to turn a bit more
amplified with a strong low developing and moving onshore in the
Pacific Northwest. This will result in a trough out west with
ridging over the Plains. For New England, a weak shortwave will move
through the region pushing a cold front through the area. Upper
level ridge over the Plains will move into the Northeast late Sunday
into early next week before another shortwave approaches from the
Midwest.

Thursday into Friday...High confidence.
Transition day on Thursday as high pressure moves offshore
resulting in a more southerly flow. This warm air advection
pattern will help increase temps above average for early
November. Friday appears to be the warmest day, but approaching
cold front from the west could limit how warm the area could
get. But at this time feel 70 degrees is likely for southern New
England.
A few isolated to scattered showers are possible within the
southwesterly flow. Increase low level moisture as well as weak
isentropic lift will help spread showers across New England early
Thursday and into Friday. Still believe that most of the region will
remain dry, with CT and western MA having the best shot to see some
showers. Less of a chance across eastern areas as mid-level dry air
will limit the environment to saturate. Cold front will move through
the region late Friday but moisture still looks meager so will
continue with a risk of isolated showers.
Aside from the risk of precip, southwesterly winds will increase
during the day on Friday. This is due to pressure gradient from the
high to the east and approaching cold front from the west.
Saturday...High confidence.
Quick moving high pressure from Canada will overspread into New
England on Saturday. This will keep the weather dry for Saturday.
Temperatures will also be more seasonable as CAA spills into the
region. Could see another shot of westerly gusts of 20-30 MPH as
lapse rates steepen and mixing increases.
Sunday and beyond...Moderate confidence.
Weak shortwave will pass through the region early Sunday. This wave
combined with a weak warm front will overspread showers during the
day. Depending on the temperature profile, we could see the first
flakes for higher terrain of western MA. Temperatures will begin to
increase as temps aloft begin to rise. Another cold front will
approach southern New England around Monday/Tuesday bringing another
shot of wet weather. Overall temperatures will be on the rise early
next week as the pattern turns a bit more unsettled.
