The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  East central Union County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 500 PM MDT.

* At 435 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 8 miles west of Clayton, moving south at 15 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and hail up to two inches in diameter. 

  SOURCE...Weather spotters reported funnel cloud. 

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely. 

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
  east central Union County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

CENTRAL UNION COUNTY...
        
At 447 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 10 miles southwest of Clayton, moving south at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and golf ball size hail. 

SOURCE...Weather spotters reported a funnel cloud. 

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely. 

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of

500 PM MDT...
    
The tornadic thunderstorm which prompted the warning no longer shows 
strong rotation. Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. 
Rotation may increase again. 

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for Union 
County until 515 pm.
