Surface flow across our region had already shifted to east southeasterly. It was a chilly start across the region with all of the inland stations reaching at least the upper 20. A few locations even made it into the mid 20s. The coldest location this morning was Camilla, GA and Cross City CO-OP, FL with lows of 23. Expect a slow warming and moistening trend to begin today as the high pressure area moves out into the western Atlantic. High temperatures will approach the lower 60s in North Florida with upper 50s elsewhere. Some increase in cloudiness is expected later this afternoon, though any rain chances should be limited to our far western areas after sunset. && .Prev Discussion [626 AM EST]... .Short Term [Tonight Through Friday]... The nearly zonal flow in the mid to upper levels across the region Wednesday night will rapidly transition to a highly amplified trough as a low closes off and moves into the Lower Mississippi Valley by late Thursday. This will induce cyclogenesis over east Texas on Thursday with the surface low forecast to be near NE Louisiana by 00z Fri. The deep low pressure system will then lift east- northeast with numerous showers and thunderstorms overspreading the local region ahead of the attendant surface cold front Thursday night into Friday. A few storms may briefly become strong to severe over the Florida Panhandle early Friday in the location of the greatest shear and instability. Prior to that, there will be a low end chance for rain Thursday mainly for our westernmost zones.
