...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood 
Warning for portions of the following rivers in central and southern 
Indiana...

  East Fork White River...White River...Wabash River...
  
  
.Lowland flooding will return to portions of the East Fork White ...
White and Wabash Rivers after Thursday in western and southern
Indiana.  Area wide rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected from
Wednesday morning through Thursday evening. The heaviest rain is
forecast for western Indiana and eastern Illinois.  Additional
rainfall late in the weekend will prolong this high water event.

At this time significant flooding is not expected.  Lowland
flooding may be somewhat higher and more widespread than flooding
seen since February 24.  River flooding will continue through much of
next week in western and southern Indiana.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

.Widespread lowland flooding will return to western and southern
Indiana this weekend.  Significant flooding is possible.  River
flooding during the week of March 13 could be nearly as extensive as
the flooding experienced in late December and early January.

Area wide rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected from Wednesday night
through Friday morning.  The heaviest rainfall is forecast for
southwest Indiana.  Thunderstorms on Wednesday night in southern
Indiana may cause locally higher rainfall.  Rain will return again
during the weekend and the middle of next week.

Flooding will last from a few days on small streams to more than two
weeks on the White and Wabash River in southwest Indiana and
southeast Illinois.

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and

  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17 
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water 
  would have covered this location.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in 
Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...White River...



.Lowland flooding this weekend will be confined to southern Indiana
along portions of the East Fork White...Muscatatuck and White Rivers.
Flooding will be similar to levels experienced at the end of February
and the beginning of March.  At this time significant flooding is not
expected. 

Rainfall totals from Wednesday morning through Friday morning may
exceed more than two inches...generally along and south of US Highway
50 in southern Indiana.  Rain will return again during the weekend
and the middle of next week and prolong the flooding.

Flooding will last from a few days on small streams to possibly more
than a week in southwest Indiana.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17 
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water 
  would have covered this location.

  would have covered this location.

  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17 
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water 
  would have covered this location.

Indiana.  Flood crests along the Wabash River in western Indiana will
be similar to 2 feet higher than experienced in February.  Flooding
in southern Indiana will be similar to the crests of February and
early March.

Little rain fell Tuesday night and little rain is expected through
Tuesday...March 22.  This dry period will allow rivers in central
Indiana to return to normal levels and flooding to end in western and

Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White 
  River...

.Lowland flooding continued along portions of rivers in western and 
southern Indiana. Flood crests along the Wabash River in western 
Indiana will be similar to 2 feet higher than experienced in 
February. Flooding in southern Indiana will be similar to the crests 
of February and early March.

Little rain fell Tuesday night and little rain is expected through
Tuesday...March 22. This dry period will allow rivers in central
Indiana to return to normal levels and flooding to end in western and
southern Indiana by March 24.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  63 north of Terre Haute, west bank of river and in southwest Vigo 
  County occurs.  County roads flood in southwest Vigo County.  The 
  wetland projects between U.S. 40 and I-70 begin to slowly fill.

* At 18.0 feet...Seep water occurs behind levees on Indiana side.  
  Hutson Creek begins to overflow from backwater.  Old Darwin Road 
  and a few rural roads in eastern Clark and Crawford counties in 
  Illinois are impassable.  Low agricultural land floods.

* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 16.7 feet by 
  Sunday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday 
  morning.
* At 16.0 feet...Some agricultural lands underwater.  A few rural 
  roads in Crawford County, Illinois close as water backs up Minnow 
  Slough.  High water affects campground at Leaverton Park in 
  Palestine.  A few private roads near the Gill Township levee in 
  Sullivan County may flood.  Water level is at the top of most 
  makeshift levees.

  The Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* from Friday morning to Wednesday morning.
* At  9:45 AM Thursday the stage was 18.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and continue 
  to rise to near 19.8 feet by Monday morning.  The river will fall 
  below flood stage by Tuesday afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...River is bankfull in all locations.  All oil field 
  production ceases with the exception of pumping units on 
  substructures.  Access to these are by boat only.  Agricultural 
  losses increase dramatically.  Farmers move livestock to higher 
  ground.  City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year 
  round.

SURFACE ANALYSIS EARLY THIS MORNING SHOWS HIGH PRESSURE IN PLACE
OFF THE COAST OF THE CAROLINAS WHILE LOW PRESSURE WAS FOUND OVER
SOUTH DAKOTA. WATER VAPOR SHOWS A DEEP TROUGH AND UPPER LOW OVER
THE SW UNITED STATES...WHILE RESULTANT SW FLOW WAS STREAMING INTO
THE OHIO VALLEY. THE UPPER LOW WAS CONTINUING TO EJECT SEVERAL
SHORT WAVES TOWARD INDIANA...ONE OVER OKLAHOMA AND MISSOURI AND
ANOTHER LINED UP OVER WESTERN TEXAS. WARM SOUTHERLY FLOW WAS IN
PLACE ACROSS CENTRAL INDIANA. RADAR WAS QUIET AND DEW POINTS WERE
MAINLY IN THE 30S...HOWEVER VERY MOIST DEW POINTS IN THE LOWER 50S
