Warning for portions of the following river in southern Indiana...

  Muscatatuck River...

.Lowland flooding will occur along portions of the Muscatatuck
River by Thursday night.  Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches has fallen
on a wet southern Indiana from Tuesday through Wednesday morning.

Flooding will affect some local roads...low agricultural land and
some river parks.        .

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

weekend for the White and Muscatatuck Rivers in southern Indiana. 
Flood crests will range from one and a half to near three feet above 
flood stage.  Lowland flooding may extend into early next week.

Rainfall of 4 to more than 8 inches fell in much of southern Indiana 
along and south of Interstate 70 and along and north of US Highway 50 
from Saturday morning through Wednesday morning.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in 
southern Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...White River...


.Elevated river levels and lowland flooding will continue in southern
Indiana through the weekend.  Rainfall on Saturday may prolong high
water in southern Indiana into next week.

On Thursday afternoon...lowland flooding continued along portions of
the White River from Edwardsport to Hazletion and along the East
Fork White and Muscatatuck Rivers in Jackson County. The crest on the
White River was near Petersburg and the crest on the East Fork White
was at Seymour.

High water from Jackson County will arrive in the Bedford and Shoals
areas by Sunday.  River crests will range from near flood in the
Rivervale area to 2.5 feet above flood stage at Hazleton.  High water
will last about 3 to 5 days.  River levels will return to near normal
levels by Thursday...August 25.

.Elevated river levels and lowland flooding will continue in southern
Indiana through the weekend.  Rainfall on Saturday may prolong high
water in southern Indiana into next week.

On Thursday afternoon...lowland flooding continued along portions of
the White River from Edwardsport to Hazleton and along the East
Fork White and Muscatatuck Rivers in Jackson County. The crest on the
White River was near Petersburg and the crest on the East Fork White
was slightly downstream of Seymour.

High water from Jackson County will arrive in the Bedford and Shoals
areas by Sunday.  River crests will range from near flood in the
Rivervale area to 2.5 feet above flood stage at Hazleton.  High water
will last about 3 to 5 days.  River levels will return to near normal
levels by Thursday, August 25.

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and

Issued at 400 AM EDT Wed Aug 17 2016

A frontal system across extreme southeast Indiana will drift to the
southeast and dissipate.  A weak ridge of high pressure will build
into the Ohio valley later today and tonight.  Models move a couple
of weak upper disturbances across the southern great lakes next few days
...but overall chances of any storms will be minimal.

A better chance of storms will occur over the weekend as a cold front
moves through.  Dry and cooler weather will occur after the weekend as
high pressure builds our way.

.NEAR TERM /Today and Tonight/...
Issued at 400 AM EDT Wed Aug 17 2016

Radar indicated scattered light showers were still across south and southeast
Indiana early this morning...while cloudy but dry conditions were the rule
elsewhere.  High Res models indicate showers may continue across our far
south and southeast this morning and diminish this afternoon as the a weak
cold front moves to the east and gradually dissipate.

Expect most areas to be dry today as we will be between systems.   Some models
indicate an upper disturbance moving into the great lakes may produce a few
thunderstorms far north late today.  Will carry 20 percent POPS Lafayette and Kokomo
area.

Could see patchy fog over northwest sections towards sunrise.  Soundings indicate
a little low level mixing may keep most areas more as low stratus instead.  I am
considering adding patchy early morning fog NW for a few hours after sunrise as
fog most likely to occur there.

Went with highs in the lower 80s today and lows in the upper 60s tonight which is
near a MOS blend.

Tonight will be mostly dry...but some models keep low chance pops across our
north and will continue slight chance POPS there.

.SHORT TERM /Wednesday Night through Friday Night/...

A couple of weak upper disturbances will move our way next few days
and the airmass will be unstable enough for isolated mainly afternoon
thunderstorms.  Will carry 20% POPS most areas...mainly Thursday and
Friday afternoon.  Rain chances will also increase towards Saturday
as a stronger upper trough and cold front move our way.

With more sun...Highs will be in the middle 80s...while lows remain in the
upper 60s.  Raised highs a degree or two most areas...but otherwise stayed
close to a MOS blend.

.LONG TERM /Saturday Through Tuesday/...

Models are close enough that the SuperBlend initialization was
accepted for most items.

An upper trough will move across the area during the first part of
the long term which will bring a surface cold front through as well.
Still some uncertainty on timing of the front as some models change
timing with each run. Thus will stick with the initialization which
keeps PoPs in through Sunday night.

High pressure and rising heights should then keep the remainder of
the long term dry. Cool air will move in behind the front and bring
below average temperatures.

Latest visible satellite imagery shows band of low/mid clouds over
central and southern IN. Mostly MVFR ceilings are being observed
with some isolated IFR in west central IN. But, there is also some
general thinning of these clouds so we should see some VFR across
the region this afternoon and evening.

With some light winds expected tonight, and given the amount of
moisture across the region, have forecast IFR visibilities and
ceilings during the early morning hours including the 10-12Z time
frame. Looks like another gradual clearing after mid morning.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR CENTRAL INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

OUTLOOK: PATCHY EARLY MORNING FOG WILL OCCUR EARLY THIS MORNING
IN SOME OUTLYING AREAS. AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM IS POSSIBLE LATE
THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY TONIGHT.

HAZARDS: PATCHY EARLY MORNING FOG. CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.

TIMING: EARLY THIS MORNING WITH THE FOG. LATE TODAY AND EARLY
TONIGHT WITH AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM.

DISCUSSION: A WEAK RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE OHIO
VALLEY. A WEAK UPPER DISTURBANCE COMBINED WITH DAYTIME HEATING MAY
PRODUCE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHWEST SECTIONS LATE
TONIGHT OR EARLY TONIGHT. WE ARE NOT EXPECTING ANY OF THESE TO BE
SEVERE AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

OUTLOOK: ISOLATED MAINLY AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MORE NUMEROUS SATURDAY
AND THEN END LATE SUNDAY. WE ARE NOT EXPECTING ANY OUTBREAKS OF
SEVERE WEATHER AT THIS TIME. BUT LIGHTNING...GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY
RAINFALL ARE POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORM.

DISCUSSION: A COUPLE OF WEAK UPPER DISTURBANCES WILL MOVE OUR WAY.
A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS INDIANA THIS WEEKEND CAUSING
THUNDERSTORMS TO BECOME MORE NUMEROUS. HIGH PRESSURE BEHIND THIS
COLD FRONT WILL MOVE OUR WAY EARLY NEXT WEEK.
