Chattahoochee River near Whitesburg affecting Carroll...Coweta and
Heard Counties
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

The Chattahoochee River near Roswell.
* From this afternoon until late tonight.
* At 130 PM Friday the stage was 8.6 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
continue to rise to near 9.1 feet by this evening. The river will
fall below flood stage by this evening.
* At 9 feet...Flood stage is reached. The water reaches the bottom
of the Ace Sand Company office and begins to flood the parking lot
of Don White Memorial Park on Riverside Road...and the parking lot
at the Azalea Park on Azalea Drive west of Roswell Road. Water will
approach the tennis courts at the Huntcliff Club across from Azalea
Park and begin to flood the road leading to the horse stables. The
storm drains will no longer function properly at Riverside Road and
Northcliff Trace.

* Minor flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 14 feet.
* The river should rise to near 14.5 feet by late this afternoon.
The river will fall below flood stage this evening.
* At 14 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding occurs in the
woodlands and portions of the Chattahoochee National Recreation
Area along the river upstream and downstream from the gage on Cobb
Parkway. The flood waters will reach the top of the concrete boat
ramp in the recreation area.

* At 130 PM Friday the stage was 10.2 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by Saturday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 17.7 feet by Saturday evening. The river
will fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 17 feet...Flood Stage is reached. Minor flooding begins in the
woodlands and fields along the river upstream and downstream from
the gage on U.S. Highway 27 or Georgia Highway 16. Flood waters
reach the top of the boat ramp at Riverside Park next to the
bridge. The playground at a day use area on the west side of the
Chattahoochee Bend State Park will begin to flood.

* At 300 PM Friday the stage was 9.3 feet...and rising slowly.
* Minor flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 9 feet.
* The river appears to be cresting around 9.3 feet and will continue
to fall to below flood stage by this evening.
* At 9 feet...Flood stage is reached. The water reaches the bottom
of the Ace Sand Company office and begins to flood the parking lot

* Until further notice.
* At 300 PM Friday the stage was 818.3 and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 821 feet.
* Two gates have been opened at Morgan Falls Dam. The river will
rise to near flood stage by this evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by midnight.
* At 821 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding of
residential yards occurs downstream from the gage at Morgan Falls
Dam. This will affect homes on Columns Drive in Cobb County and the
water will reach the bottom of the bridge over Sope Creek. Minor
flooding will also affect the yards of homes on Edgewater Drive...
Ferry Landing...River Chase Circle...River Glen Trace and
Winterthur Drive in Fulton County. Portions of the Chattahoochee
River National Recreation Area will have minor flooding.

* At 16 feet...Minor flooding expands in the
woodlands and portions of the Chattahoochee National Recreation
Area along the river upstream and downstream from the gage on Cobb
Parkway. The flood waters will be around one foot deep over portions
of the access road to the recreation area.

* At 7 PM Friday the stage was 7.6 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 7.7 feet by tonight. The
river will fall below flood stage early tomorrow.
* At 8 feet...Minor flooding will expand into the natural flood
plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at Atlanta
Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Most of the sidewalk and boardwalk of
the Big Creek Greenway will be under a foot or two of water. The
areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be
covered with around three feet of water. A portion of the sidewalk
under Majors Road will be covered with around four feet of water.

The Big Creek near Alpharetta.
* Until Sunday evening.
* At 07PM Friday the stage was 7.7 feet...and steady.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 7.8 feet by tomorrow
morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon.
* At 8 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the
woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south
Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County.
Additional portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor flooding
with 1 to 2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking paths
will be closed...especially upstream and downstream from the gage
on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Hill Park. Portions of the
YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will flood.

* At 8PM Friday the stage was 13.9 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early tomorrow and continue
to rise to near 19 feet by tomorrow evening.The river will fall
below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 19 feet...Minor flooding continues in the woodlands and fields
upstream and downstream from the gage at U.S. Highway 27 or Georgia
Highway 16. The parking lot of Riverside Park next to the bridge
will begin to flood. A sod farm upstream also experiences flooding.
Flooding occurs on some unimproved dirt roads along the river. The
playground at a day use area in the Chattahoochee Bend State Park
will be under two feet of water. Flood waters will surround tent
platforms on the North Camping Site of the park.
