...The National Weather Service in Taunton, MA has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Massachusetts...

  Westfield River At Westfield affecting Hampden and Hampshire 
  Counties

Runoff from last nights heavy rain continues to flow into the
Westfield river in Westfield. The Westfield river at Westfield 
is expected to reach flood stage this morning and fall below 
flood stage later this afternoon. The river is expected to 
experience minor flooding.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety Message...A Flood Statement providing the latest information 
in this flood event will be issued within the next 8 hours, or 
earlier if needed.

Safety Message...Do not allow children to play near swollen rivers, 
streams or culverts. Swiftly moving water can pose an imminent threat
to life.

  The Westfield River At Westfield.
* from this morning to late tonight...or until the warning is 
  cancelled.
* At  7:30 AM Thursday the stage was 12.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
  to rise to near 13.1 feet by this afternoon. The river will fall 
  below flood stage by this evening.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...Flooding of low lying sections along the 
  river through Westfield is expected. Business interests should take
  action to protect materials that are in flood prone areas. Flooding
  is also expected across a portion of Union Avenue in the Frogs Hole
  area.
