THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN INDIANAPOLIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  A LEVEE FAILURE IN...
  WEST CENTRAL DAVIESS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST INDIANA...

* UNTIL 630 PM EST

* AT 1227 PM EST...A LEVEE ON THE WHITE RIVER NORTHWEST OF           
  WASHINGTON WAS NEAR FAILURE CAUSING FLASH FLOODING OF IMMEDIATELY  
  SURROUNDING AREAS.

DAVIESS COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTS THAT A LEVEE WAS ABOUT 
TO BE OVERTOPPED ALONG THE WHITE RIVER. RESIDENTS OF THE MAYSVILLE 
TRAILER PARK...AND SURROUNDING AREAS...WEST AND NORTHWEST OF THE 
TOWN OF WASHINGTON...WILL BE AFFECTED. THIS INCLUDES UNITED STATES 
HIGHWAY 50.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
