THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHEASTERN GREENE COUNTY IN MISSOURI

* UNTIL 730 PM CDT.

* AT 429 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA.   
  DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN AND
  HAIL HAD ALREADY FALLEN OVER MUCH OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD.

* SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN THE
  WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE 
  FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR IN SPRINGFIELD. IN ADDITION...COPIOUS
  AMOUNTS OF LARGE HAIL WILL LEAD TO EXTREMELY POOR DRAINAGE AND
  ADDITIONAL FLOODING OF URBAN AREAS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE LIKELY OVER THE 
NEXT HOUR IN THE SPRINGFIELD AREA. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY 
RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN 
AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE 
AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ENDED ACROSS SOUTHEASTER GREENE COUNTY. NUMEROUS 
STREETS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS WERE FLOODED BY THE HEAVY RAINFALL 
FROM THESE STORMS. THOUGH THE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ENDED...ROADWAYS 
AND LOW WATER CROSSING MAY STILL BE FLOODED.

DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER IS COVERING THE ROADWAY.
