THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS EXTENDED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHWESTERN PICKENS COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA

* UNTIL 1015 PM EDT

* AT 810 PM EDT...A FLASH FLOOD WAS ONGOING ALONG TALKING ROCK CREEK 
IN NORTHWEST PICKENS COUNTY. THE TALKING ROCK CREEK AT HINTON WAS 
NEAR 15.5 FEET...WHICH IS A FLOOD OF RECORD. THE OLD RECORD WAS 
15.45 SET MAY 28TH 1973.

THIS REMAINS A POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING SITUATION IN NORTHWEST 
PICKENS COUNTY. COUNTY EMERGENCY OFFICIALS REPORT NUMEROUS ROADS 
FLOODED.

SOME CREEKS AFFECTED INCLUDE TALONA CREEK...FISHER CREEK...AND 
TALKING ROCK CREEK.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF CREEKS
AND STREAMS...ROADS AND ROADSIDE CULVERTS. THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO
TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TWO FEET OF RUSHING WATER CAN CARRY AWAY MOST VEHICLES...
INCLUDING SUVS AND PICKUPS. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD
BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
