THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  DOUGLAS COUNTY IN MISSOURI
  HOWELL COUNTY IN MISSOURI
  NORTHEASTERN TANEY COUNTY IN MISSOURI
  OZARK COUNTY IN MISSOURI

* UNTIL 215 AM CDT

* AT 805 PM CDT...THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN 
THE WARNED AREA. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE 
FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS...LOW WATER CROSSINGS...AND LOW 
LYING OR POOR DRAINAGE AREAS TO OCCUR.

* LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT SOME LOW WATER 
CROSSINGS IN HOWELL COUNTY HAD BECOME IMPASSABLE DUE TO HIGH WATER. 
DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED ONE TO THREE INCHES OVER PORTIONS OF EASTERN 
OZARK AND NORTHERN HOWELL COUNTIES...AND FROM NORTHEAST TANEY COUNTY 
INTO CENTRAL DOUGLAS COUNTY. 

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE 
WARNED AREA.

BECAUSE OF THE HILLY TERRAIN OF THE OZARKS...THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF
LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT
ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES
AWAY.
