THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CRAWFORD COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL 700 PM CDT

* AT 355 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED 
 THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN IN NORTHERN SECTIONS OF
 CRAWFORD COUNTY...ESPECIALLY IN AND AROUND THE CUBA AREA.  RAINFALL 
 ESTIMATES FROM RADAR INDICATE OVER 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN
 SINCE EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO
 PERSIST IN THIS AREA FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS.

* FLASH FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA...ESPECIALLY
  IN AND AROUND CUBA.  WHILE THE FLOOD PRODUCING RAINS
  WILL NOT BE WIDESPREAD...THE ANCHORING OF THE STORMS IS FOCUSING
  EXTREMELY HEAVY RAINS IN VERY NARROW AREAS.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...
ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND.

DURING HEAVY RAINS...KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM CREEKS AND STORM DRAINS.
GENTLY FLOWING WATER CAN TURN INTO A RAGING TORRENT IN A MATTER OF
MINUTES.

THOSE CAMPING NEAR SMALL STREAMS SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND AT
ONCE. WATER LEVELS MAY RISE RAPIDLY WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING...EVEN
IF THE HEAVY RAINS ARE WELL UPSTREAM OF YOUR CAMPSITE.
