THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON KY HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  LETCHER COUNTY
  HARLAN COUNTY
  BELL COUNTY

* UNTIL 1045 AM EST

* AT 645 AM EST...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY
  HEAVY RAIN FALLING ACROSS LETCHER...HARLAN...AND BELL COUNTIES.
  RAINFALL IS ASSOCIATED WITH A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
  MOVING ACROSS EASTERN KENTUCKY. RAIN FALL RATES EXCEEDING AN INCH
  AN HOUR ARE OCCURRING WITH THESE STORMS.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THESE STORMS WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF 
CREEKS AND STREAMS...ROADS AND ROADSIDE CULVERTS. THE HEAVY RAINS 
COULD ALSO TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE

COUNTIES EXPIRED AT 1045 AM EST...

THE HEAVY RAIN RESPONSIBLE FOR PROMPTING THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING HAS 
MOVED OUT OF THE AREA.  LIGHT RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO FALL ACROSS THE 
AREA THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON...BUT NO SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL 
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED.  WATER LEVELS IN SMALL STREAMS AND IN 
URBAN AREAS WILL SLOWLY BEGIN TO RECEDE.
