THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  HAYWOOD COUNTY IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

* UNTIL 730 PM EDT

* AT 430 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN IN 
NORTHEAST HAYWOOD COUNTY...AND ANOTHER AREA OF HEAVY RAIN CLOSER TO 
WAYNESVILLE.  RADAR ESTIMATES THAT AS MUCH AS 4 TO 5 INCHES OF 
RAINFALL HAS OCCURRED THIS AFTERNOON.

* RADAR SHOWED THE STORMS MERGING OVER EASTERN HAYWOOD COUNTY...AND 
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOOD IS LIKELY TO OCCUR.  THE SHERIFF 
DEPARTMENT REPORTED THAT STREAMS IN TOWN WERE NEAR BANKFULL.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF CREEKS
AND STREAMS...ROADS AND ROADSIDE CULVERTS. THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO
TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN.
