THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CENTRAL AND EASTERN CHAVES COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO

* UNTIL 930 PM MDT

* AT 755 PM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  VERY HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS OVER 
  CENTRAL AND EASTERN CHAVES COUNTY FROM 10 MILES NORTH OF ELKINS 
  TO 15 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF ROSWELL. THE STORMS WERE DRIFTING
  TOWARD THE SOUTH AT LESS THAN 10 MPH. 

* VERY HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE PECOS
  RIVER VALLEY. IN THE ROSWELL VICINITY...THE HEAVIEST RAINS ARE
  EXPECTED TO FALL NEAR ALAMO ROAD AND IN THE BOTTOMLESS LAKES STATE 
  PARK AREA. 

DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. MANY FLASH
FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
