THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
SOUTHEASTERN IRON COUNTY IN UTAH
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF CEDAR CITY
WESTERN KANE COUNTY IN UTAH
EASTERN WASHINGTON COUNTY IN UTAH
* UNTIL 845 PM MDT
* AT 644 PM MDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY
RAIN ALONG AND EAST OF I-15 BETWEEN CEDAR CITY AND
PINTURA...MOVING SOUTH AT 15 MPH.
* THE THUNDERSTORMS WITH EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL BE...OVER THE
WESTERN PORTIONS OF ZION NP AT 745 PM MDT
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THESE STORMS WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING. IT
APPEARS THAT THE DRAINAGES ALONG THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF ZION NP
WILL BE THE ONES MAINLY AFFECTED BY THIS RAIN...AND NOT SO MUCH
ALONG THE VIRGIN RIVER IN THE PARK.
THE HEAVY RAIN IN THE CEDAR CITY AREA HAS DIMINISHED BUT DRAINAGES
IN THAT AREA WILL CONTINUE TO RUN THROUGH ABOUT 800 PM.
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
PERSONS ALONG STREAMS AND IN NORMALLY DRY WASHES SHOULD TAKE
IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT
OR BY AUTOMOBILE. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS, ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND
SEEK HIGHER GROUND.
