THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  HOWELL COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL 545 PM CDT

* AT 248 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL FROM WEST PLAINS SOUTHWARD TO 
NEAR BAKERSFIELD. THESE SLOW MOVING STORMS HAD PRODUCED 1 TO 2 
INCHES OF RAIN IN THE PAST HOUR.  THE HOWELL COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTED 
THAT CITY STREETS IN WEST PLAINS HAVE ALREADY PONDED OVER IN 
LOCATIONS AND CREEKS WERE STARTING TO RISE.

* THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES OF 
RAIN OVER WEST PLAINS AND SOUTHERN HOWELL COUNTY...CAUSING WORSENING 
FLOODING IN WEST PLAINS AREA AS WELL AS RAPID RISES IN AREA 
CREEKS...ESPECIALLY HOWELL CREEK.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS...STREAMS AND OTHER LOW
LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING.

MOTORISTS SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS OF FLOODED LOW WATER 
CROSSINGS.  REPORT ALL FLOODING TO YOUR NEAREST LAW ENFORECMENT.
