THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  GREENE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI

* UNTIL 1215 PM CDT

* AT 916 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL HAD MOVED OFF TO THE EAST OF 
SPRINGFIELD...HOWEVER RUNOFF WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP FLOOD WATERS HIGH 
AND THERE REMAINS A CHANCE FOR ADDITIONAL STORMS LATER THIS MORNING 
AND AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON.

* THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RECORDED 1.2 INCHES OF RAIN MAINLY 
BETWEEN 8 AND 9 AM...WHILE ANOTHER OBSERVER TO THE NORTHEAST OF 
WILLARD REPORTED 4.1 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE PAST 24 HOURS...MUCH OF 
WHICH THIS MORNING.  THE GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTED WATER OVER 
SEVERAL CITY STREETS IN SPRINGFIELD.  

IN ADDITION TO FLOODING IN THE CITY...LOW WATER CROSSINGS ESPECIALLY 
ALONG HIGHWAY CC BETWEEN FAIR GROVE AND H AND NEAR FELLOWS LAKE WILL 
LIKELY BE DANGEROUS THROUGH NOON.  CROSSING A FLOODED LOW WATER 
CROSSING MAY RESULT IN DEATH.  MOTORISTS SHOULD INSTEAD TURN 
IMMEDIATELY AROUND AND SEEK A DIFFERENT ROUTE.
