* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHERN BERGEN COUNTY IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...PARAMUS...RAMSEY...RIDGEWOOD
  ROCKLAND COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...HAVERSTRAW...NANUET...NEW CITY...

* UNTIL 1145 PM EDT

* AT 835 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY
  RAIN OVER WESTERN BERGEN AND MUCH OF ROCKLAND COUNTIES.  THE RAIN 
  WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH...OVER AREAS ALREADY SATURATED
  FROM EARLIER RAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. 
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. 
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE 
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS 
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY 
AUTOMOBILE. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS, ABANDON IT IM1MEDIATELY AND SEEK 
HIGHER GROUND.

THE AREAS OF UNION...PASSAIC...BERGEN...ROCKLAND AND ESSEX. THE
WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

TORRENTIAL RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL ACROSS THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH AREA
THIS AFTERNOON. RAINFALL OF UP TO 1 1/2 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR IS
EXPECTED TO CAUSE THE POSSIBILITY OF FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AND
LOW LYING AREAS THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING.

PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE AWARE OF THE
POSSIBILITY FOR HEAVY RAINFALL, AVOID LOW LYING AREAS, AND BE CAREFUL
WHEN APPROACHING HIGHWAY DIPS AND UNDERPASSES.
