FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA
830 PM EDT FRI AUG 3 2001

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE PA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  DAUPHIN COUNTY IN PENNSYLVANIA

* UNTIL 1130 PM EDT.

* AT 825 PM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
  THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL.

SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS HAVE FORMED OVER SOUTHERN DAUPHIN COUNTY 
AND ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE 
RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING IN AND AROUND HERSHEY AND 
MIDDLETOWN...AND MAY EXTEND INTO OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTY AS 
THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORMING NORTH AND EAST OF HARRISBURG.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL 
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE 
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT. NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS HIGH WATER IN A VEHICLE OR ON FOOT!
