THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
    COLUMBIA COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA

* UNTIL 1015 AM EDT.

* AT 615 AM...SHOWERS WITH HEAVY RAIN WERE OCCURRING IN THE 
  COUNTY. THE HEAVIEST RAIN HAS OCCURRED OVER THE APPLING AREA NORTH 
  TO STROM THURMOND LAKE. RADAR ESTIMATES SHOW ABOUT 3 INCHES 
  OF RAIN HAS OCCURRED DURING THE PAST 6 HOURS. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WAS 
  MOVING TOWARD THE COUNTY.

AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN COULD OCCUR BEFORE 900 AM.
THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE REPORTED WATER UP TO CAR DOORS 
ON RAY OWENS ROAD AT THE BRIDGE BETWEEN NORTH COLUMBIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
AND APPLING. FLOODING WAS ALSO REPORTED ON DOZIER ROAD AT COTTONWOOD ESTATES.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.
