THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  LEWIS COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK.

* UNTIL 715 PM EDT

* AT 530 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SLOW
  MOVING THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN ABOUT 15 MILES NORTH
  OF LOWVILLE...MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 15 TO 20 MILES AN HOUR.

RADAR ESTIMATES AND SPOTTER REPORTS CONFIRM THAT SOME AREAS NORTH
OF COPENHAGEN HAVE RECEIVED ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN SINCE 4 PM.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE
BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT. IT IS
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS SHOULD AVOID
CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
