SOUTHEAST ARIZONA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ
205 PM MST THU AUG 3 2000

SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT NEAR THE FOUR CORNERS REGION WILL
GRADUALLY EXPAND INTO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS THIS WEEKEND. LOW
PRESSURE DEVELOPING OFF THE WEST COAST AND SHOULD SWITCH LOW LEVEL
FLOW OUT OF THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA AND NORTHWEST MEXICO. AS THIS
OCCURS...SOUTHEAST ARIZONA WILL SEE AN UPSWING IN MONSOON ACTIVITY
OVER THE WEEKEND.

DISCUSSION...MID LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE MOVING SLOWLY SOUTHEAST AND
BRINGING SOME RECYCLED MOISTURE WITH IT. CONVECTION GOING PRETTY
GOOD ALONG THE RIM...WITH SCATTERED BUILDUPS AND ISOLATED STORMS
IN COCHISE AND SANTA CRUZ COUNTIES. DESPITE THE HIGH CENTER
PUSHING A LITTLE FARTHER TO THE SOUTH...SOUTHEAST ARIZONA REMAINS
IN EASTERLY FLOW THROUGH THE FORECAST PERIOD. BASED ON EVOLUTION
OF THE SYNOPTIC PATTERN EXPECT A GRADUAL MOISTURE INCREASE OVER THE
WEEKEND. BOTH CANADIAN AND MRF ENSEMBLES INDICATE EARLY NEXT WEEK
SHOULD APPROACH NORMAL MONSOON ACTIVITY...BUT ANY DRAMATIC INCREASES
IN MOISTURE WILL DEPEND ON SURGE ACTIVITY WHICH REQUIRES A WAIT AND
SEE APPROACH. DRB

.TWC...NONE.
