NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ
745 PM MST THU AUG 17 2000

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TUCSON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHWESTERN COCHISE COUNTY IN ARIZONA
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...BISBEE...SIERRA VISTA

* UNTIL 915 PM MST

* AT 733 PM MST...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN EXTENDED FROM JUST WEST OF DOUGLAS TO
JUST SOUTH OF BENSON. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHWEST AT 20 MPH.

REPORTS INDICATED THAT DAVIS ROAD WAS CLOSED NORTH OF DOUGLAS. OTHER
REPORTS FROM THE AREA INDICATE THAT HEAVY RAIN HAS FALLEN ALONG
HIGHWAY 80 AND HIGHWAY 191 NORTH AND WEST OF DOUGLAS. TUCSON DOPPLER
RADAR INDICATES THAT 1 TO 1.5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN FROM THE
STRONGER STORMS NORTH AND WEST OF BISBEE. THE STORMS IN THE AREA
WERE MOVING FAIRLY FAST SO THE RAIN IN THE AREA WILL BE DIMINISHING
BY 815 PM. THE RAIN FALLING NOW IN COMBINATION WITH THE RAIN EARLIER
IN THE DAY HAS CAUSED WASHES TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS IN SPOTS.

THE RAIN WILL MOVE OUT OF THE AREA BY 830PM AND WATER WILL RECEDE BY
915PM.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY
AUTOMOBILE. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS, ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK
HIGHER GROUND.
