THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA                          
SOUTHERN AND EASTERN MISSISSIPPI                        
AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS                     

EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 400 PM UNTIL
800 PM CST.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO
70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 45 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST
OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES SOUTHWEST OF HOUMA LOUISIANA TO 40 MILES
NORTH OF MERIDIAN MISSISSIPPI.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.

DISCUSSION...A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IS DEVELOPING ALONG THE COLD
FRONT FROM SW MS TO SW LA.  DESTABILIZATION HAS BEEN OCCURRING
RAPIDLY NWD FROM LA INTO SRN/CENTRAL MS...AND STORMS COULD BECOME
SURFACE BASED AS FAR N AS ERN MS IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS.  GIVEN THE
VERY STRONG LOW-LEVEL SHEAR PROFILES...THE STRONGEST STORMS COULD
PRODUCE AN ISOLATED TORNADO OR TWO AS WELL AS DAMAGING GUSTS.  THE
SEVERE THREAT IS EXPECTED TO DIMINISH LATER THIS EVENING AS THE
MAIN LOW DEVELOPS NEWD TOWARD THE OH VALLEY AND THE LOW LEVEL JET
LIFTS NEWD.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1 INCH...EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS.  A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450.
